We knew he was special the moment he was born and he only got better and better as he matured. Dauntless' sire is the incomparable Annual's Bea-2 Bomber, whose owner had commented he was his spitting image.
His dam was our first champion born on our farm, a dam that produced champion after champion. We have/had kept ALL of her sons on our farm in the herdsire row, including her last son, a DRG by our Dark Secret.
We lost one of his brothers (judge's choice, Smokejumper) to unfortunate accident a few years ago and his dam (multiple champion Rose) to old age last year, so Dauntless' genetics is increasing rare genetics. You don't hear as much about multiple champion Kanaka (his maternal grandsire) these days but as one of those who saw him first-hand in his day, we can attest that he was a very nice male, one of the first of his kind. Similarly, his sire (Bea-2 Bomber) was a very special male in promoting the grey color alpaca fiber in the show ring. We also have Dauntless' half sister by Bomber, who is in our foundation making her own champions -- namely our Artorius.
Dauntless didn't get enough action on our farm to no fault of his own, and we need to reduce numbers so please take advantage of this opportunity to add this fantastic male! We have too many rose grey males and are leaning toward the dark side -- so as a classic light rose grey he was in a tough spot. Not uncommon in the world, a younger male beat him out, as our Artorius has stepped into this spot on our herdsire row. Therefore, we have put Dauntless for sale at a very nice price to help him move to a farm that make him happy by utilizing his great peronality, attributes, and lineage in their own breeding program.
Congratulations to Brandon Siglar and Austin Swain of Elderwood Alpacas for adding Dauntless to their great breeding program! We look forward to seeing pictures of the fantastic offspring he will produce.
5th – 2017 AOA National Halter Show, 2 yr old grey males, Amanda VandeBosch, less than 2 weeks after giving him a banner and glowing comments, this same judge complained of a dry feel. We have had extreme heat (80’s in March???) for the last two weeks which caused stress to this fleece.
