Lady is definitely the alpha female of our herd. Even though she is cautious and always looking out for the rest of the herd, she also knows how to keep them in line. At her age, Lady still has excellent density and fiber coverage and possesses beautiful vicuña markings. We love her smaller compact body size and big bones. She has wonderful fiber coverage and trademark curls on her cheeks and in the front of her topknot. She has a high frequency crimp and she is holding a low micron of 25.7 at 8 years of age, which is great considering she is a working female. Lady’s grandsire is PPeruvian Felix and her sire is NWA, LTD Abraham, making her ¼ Accoyo. Her dam is PPeruvian Pandora, an Alianza import, making Lady 1/2 Alianza as well. She is a great production female and an outstanding mother. She has produced 6 cria total, 2 females and 4 males. She has produced a dark silver grey cria, three fawn cria, a beige cria, and a white cria to date. For an example of her offspring, see our full Peruvian grey herdsire, Smokey as well as Panacea, Riphaeus and appalachia. We are offering Lady at this low price because it is likely that her cria will need to be bottle fed. She is a great mother and very fertile, but she had really bad mastitis a few years ago where she lost 1 teat and has a lot of scar tissue. While she produces milk, we have had a difficult time getting her cria to latch on to her remaining 3 teats because they get very bulbous from the scar tissue. We have bottle fed her last 3 cria with no problem. For more information and pictures of Lady Liberty, please call 616-550-4297 or email us at [email protected]. Congratulations to the Nelson Family for beginning your alpaca adventure! Thanks for choosing Lady to help you get started on that adventure.

Description

Smokey is a very dark silver grey full Peruvian male. He is compact and has large bones in a smaller frame. He has wonderful density and fiber coverage from his nose to his toes. At 6 years of age, Smokey possesses a 22.6 fiber micron count. Smokey was sired by Maplewood Farm's blue ribbon fleece winner, Peruvian Pewter who is grey and has a micron of 16. Smokey's grandsire is CPeruvian Silvino and his great grandsire is PPeruvian Felix making him 1/8 Accoyo. Smokey's granddam PPeruvian Pandora was a Alianza import making him 1/4 Alianza as well. His first cria hit the ground in 2007 and we are happy with the results. To date, he has produced approximately 20 cria ranging in color from medium fawn to true black. He consistently throws cria with awesome coverage and very fine, bright fiber. At least half of his offspring have been grey or true black. When bred to a pattern female, he has always produced a cria with patterns. Smokey would be a great match for your females who are dense, but lack fineness. If you are looking for an awesome grey full Peruvian herdsire to add black and grey to your herd, look no further.... For more information and the schedule a breeding, contact Justin and Cara Stray at [email protected]. UPDATE: Smokey took 3rd for Get of Sire at the 2010 Best of the US Show in Columbus with his offspring Jolie Rouge (1st place in halter), d'Artagnan (6th place in halter) and Miss Rosco (5th place in halter). The judge commented on how all 3 offspring had similar fineness, staple length and brightness in their fiber.
