Smokey is a very dark silver grey full Peruvian male. He is compact and has large bones in a smaller frame. He has wonderful density and fiber coverage from his nose to his toes. At 6 years of age, Smokey possesses a 22.6 fiber micron count. Smokey was sired by Maplewood Farm's blue ribbon fleece winner, Peruvian Pewter who is grey and has a micron of 16. Smokey's grandsire is CPeruvian Silvino and his great grandsire is PPeruvian Felix making him 1/8 Accoyo. Smokey's granddam PPeruvian Pandora was a Alianza import making him 1/4 Alianza as well. His first cria hit the ground in 2007 and we are happy with the results. To date, he has produced approximately 20 cria ranging in color from medium fawn to true black. He consistently throws cria with awesome coverage and very fine, bright fiber. At least half of his offspring have been grey or true black. When bred to a pattern female, he has always produced a cria with patterns. Smokey would be a great match for your females who are dense, but lack fineness. If you are looking for an awesome grey full Peruvian herdsire to add black and grey to your herd, look no further.... For more information and the schedule a breeding, contact Justin and Cara Stray at [email protected]. UPDATE: Smokey took 3rd for Get of Sire at the 2010 Best of the US Show in Columbus with his offspring Jolie Rouge (1st place in halter), d'Artagnan (6th place in halter) and Miss Rosco (5th place in halter). The judge commented on how all 3 offspring had similar fineness, staple length and brightness in their fiber.

Description

Little Miss Rosco was born at 340 days weighing 15.8 lbs. She is a strong little girl with beautiful non-fading midnight black fiber. Her fiber is luxuriously soft, which is not a surprise considering her dam has a micron of 19 and her sire a micron of 21 at 5 years old. Her parents are both silver grey so she has a lot of potential to throw grey some day. Check out her pedigree. Out of the 24 ancestors listed on her ARI certificate, 14 of them are grey. Rosco is 11/16 Peruvian, 1/4 Chilean, and 1/16 Bolivian. She has Peruvian Royal Condor, The Silversmith, Peruvian Felix, Silver Salix, Peruvian Pewter, Peruvian Silvino and Peruvian Silvio in her background. If you purchase Rosco with her dam or another one of our breeding females, her price is $4500. Also, check out the packages that Rosco is included in. Creative financing with zero interest available to fit your needs. Rosco comes with 2 free breedings to any of our herdsires to be used by her when she is of age or on other females on your farm. Rosco has been tested BVD negative. Email us at [email protected] for more information. Also, check out more info and pictures of Rosco on our farm blog at www.ashtonstone.blogspot.com. Congratulations to Justin and Cara Stray of Oak Haven Alpacas for adding Rosco to your herd.
