Seize your opportunity to own Sunset Hills Golden Thunder at the upcoming AOBA National Auction May 20, 2011! Sunset Hills Golden Thunder is the outstanding product of both full Peruvian Natalie and Sunset Hills Andean Gold. Natalie has consistently produced very fine and crimpy fleeced alpacas (Sunset Hills Z-Elite, Sunset Hills Kalyssa, etc...) who have done extremely well in the show ring! And speaking of a great producer, Golden Thunder's Sire, Andean Gold, has given us one beautiful offspring after another that has extremely fine-fleece and density that shows its best as the years progress, never losing their fineness. Andean Gold even in his almost fifth year of age was still winning Color Championships and Fleece Championships. Sunset Hills Golden Thunder is a carbon copy phenotype of his Sire, Andean Gold. He is upright, very typey from head to fetlock, with a strong bone structure and density of fleece throughout his blanket. His fleece is narrow to medium in crimp style with a high amplitude and consistency throughout. Now wait to see this micron...16.5-2.9-17.3-0.4! Golden Thunder just won his 11th Championship and another Blue Ribbon at the 2011 Buckeye Alpaca Show! ( His Sire, Sunset Hills Andean Gold at age 8years/ 8 months old just won another Color Championship at the same show and the prestigious, Judges' Choice Award!!) Golden Thunder is winning in the show ring and we know he will only get better with age as his Sire did. See Golden Thunder for Sale at the AOBA Nationals May 20, 2011!

Not intending to buy, we had to buy this girl as a yearling when we saw her fleece! With her very gentle personality, great health and conformation, we are glad we added her to our herd. Esa has been a great mom and easy keeper. Her first cria was a beautiful boy with striking white markings on his face and a macho look from birth. We could not resist taking a newborn picture with our phone just to post for all to see. This boy grew up to be our herdsire Major General who brought home banners including from The Futurity!! When bred to Golden Thunder she produced a cute little fawn female that was complimented more than once on her very shiny fleece. We named her Carnaval (because she was all spunk as a cria, like a party), but maybe we should have named her Caramel for her buttery soft fleece! From our white herdsire Orionn, Esa produced a very nice beige male that sold as as a juvenile. She has lots of production left to give!

Full Peruvian, with champions in his bloodlines that make you take a second look -- yes, that is the now deceased multiple champion true black Knight Ryder who showed who took the ring by storm in his day. And Shades of Silver is the champion son of the notable champion Legend's Peruvian Revelation by KPR. This pedigree is definitely 'name dropping' if you are interested in champion black and grey. In his showing he often stood second to Val d'Sere, the legendary many times color champion and judge's choice winner. And during the color champion, though the CCNF male took reserve (after Val d'Sere took CC, of course), we got several 2nd glances by the judge when Axios moved up to the front row for consideration. Axios, for his first breeding year, bred to our Sparrow Lark (who had made a lovely TB female by our multiple champion black herdsire), produced a fantastic deep brown boy last year and a mirrored girl this year. Both are beautiful. His 2019 boy, Shakespeare, is still available as we ramp back up into show mode after the year of Covid-19 restrictions, and his 2020 girl was sold at her dam's side. In 2021, Axios made three beautiful female and one male crias for us! He throws color! Sweet Carolina is a well grown BG out of (LF) Aika; no fault to him as Aika is resisting putting out dark. Divine Glamour is a luxurious BB out of our MF Divine Lady, and Oraine is a glowing MB out of our champion white Danica. He also made a spectacular bay black male out of a our MF dam, Carnaval who unfortunately had an ear infection as a young cria that affected our ability to show him. So, the girls, Glamour and Oraine, had to represent Axios alone - both garnering banners! We are more than proud. He is closed to outside breedings but will be available as a service sire to sold dams from Autumn Sun Alpacas.

lovely fiber crimp/shine!

Description

13x CH G.Thunder girl! Petite in her juvie and yearling days, she is well grown and filled out nicely for her career as a breeding dam. Her fleece too has been getting better and better in crimp definition, exhibiting fineness, uniformity and density. Carnival is a delight to touch and has the fiber to take on the 'big farms' -- shown by her placement in walking fleece above a multiple champion female of 'royalty' bloodlines. Judge's comments from one of her first shows as juvie shows one of her fiber qualities... brightness ..."light shining in your eyes!", "so soft to the touch"..... Her beautiful 2020 girl is just as shiny and soft as she was as a juvenile. We are thrilled to have her, especially as she is our last Smokejumper offspring and only one of three (fortunately all girls). We named her Torch Glow as a nod to her sire as well as in recognition of her shine. Glow has since produced her own beautiful girls. To keep that trend going, we bred Carnaval to our Axios, another herd member notable for his shine and softness. We had hoped for another beautiful golden girl or even a grey or black since both Carnaval and Axios have grey heritage and Carnaval also has dark coloration. Our cria by Axios came right on time -- a boy with bay black coloration. His fiber has a lovely shine, density and crimp. Though we always hope for girls we were happy with this outcome. Our sadness is that he suffered an inner ear infection that made him miss out on showing and has given him a slight head tilt (forever eliminating him from showing). In the interest of exploring her potential for dark crias, we bred her to our champion Maelstrom to produce a very nice bay black girl that has be a strong girl since birth! We have high hopes for our lovely Milagros in our black breedings in her future. We reluctantly added her to our auction listings in 2025, as we only take the best alpacas we can, but partially hope she will not sell! We loved the look of our Axios crias, so we bred her that way for a lovely bay black girl this year! Needless to say, we are happy to keep this girl too!

4th - TXOLAN Spectacular, Juvenile DF female, Kathy Klay. --- Tough competition in this class!
4th - 2017 MOPACA, Juvenile DF, Wade Gease. --- Carnaval and the 3rd place were the youngest in the class and dinged for size but the judge said she was "so soft to the touch!", and she was so bright that it was like a "light shining in your eyes!".
