It's a sad day this August when we lost our Jumper to a closed head injury, hitting his head on a fence post in a freak accident and having to be put down after losing the ability to walk. :( He only just started in our program, leaving one son and two daughters on our farm. ---------------------------- As a four year old with awesome fleece that is maintaining fineness, uniformity, and crimp as he matures, Smokejumper is taking home champion fleece banners, along with the coveted "Spirit of the Industry" awards (along with glowing comments from the judges!). We had quietly tucked him away on our farm as a hidden gem, since each year's new crias took precedence in our limited show string. Until one day we looked at him, now a mature male, and were amazed at his fineness, crimp style & consistency, and uniformity across his blanket. Jumper's dam is our champion grey female, Rosie, who herself has carried a fine fleece long into her maturity. Her other sons, Dauntless and Longbow, also have won their share of banners. Longbow himself won color champion with his 3 year old fleece! Jumper's sire is none other than the pivotal male Patagonia's Lennox -- a world before his time in propelling dark colored programs into fine and crimpy fiber. Jumper has secured excellent placings from his juvenile days, showing against his sire's other sons and grandsons, that hinted at the genetics that would have him continuing to produce fantastic fiber as he matures. His first show as a juvenile was wet, humid and freezing. Coming from our dry cold Colorado weather, this was a trifecta of distressing environmental conditions! Nothing like having the fans on for the humidity when you are so cold that your teeth chatter! His fiber still looked fantastic, and he placed 2nd to none other than his 'nephew' from Patagonia, an Ernesto son. A tough competition, with these young males standing like matching bookends at the top of the lineup. The judge commented that we were really going to like his fleece when his cria fleece comes off! Jumper held his head high at the 2013 Futurity in Dark Bred & Owned Juvenile to secure 1st place among a lineup of several impressive animals from CCNF and Snowmass in the B&O classes. His last show as a juvenile in 2014 was the always-competitive, level-V Great Western Alpaca Show. He took 2nd in a close pairing to his (same age) nephew, with them standing there like brothers rather than uncle/nephew, over males of notable bloodlines. At 2015 GWAS as a yearling, Jumper secured an hard earned third in another tough class, standing shoulder to shoulder in good company: below a Snowmass Matrix Majesty son and above sons of Crescent Moon's Simtustus and Aussie .38 Special! Along with Dauntless, he helped to win 2nd in dark Produce of Dam for our Frosted Red Rose -- an amazing feat for a grey and brown for their grey dam, since solids usually beat out greys!

AutumnSun's Carnaval

HuacayaOpen (Female)Medium Fawn
AOA# 35160441DOB: 7/3/20168 yrs
13x CH G.Thunder girl! Petite in her juvie and yearling days, she is well grown and filled out nicely for her career as a breeding dam. Her fleece too has been getting better and better in crimp definition, exhibiting fineness, uniformity and density. Carnival is a delight to touch and has the fiber to take on the 'big farms' -- shown by her placement in walking fleece above a multiple champion female of 'royalty' bloodlines. Judge's comments from one of her first shows as juvie shows one of her fiber qualities... brightness ..."light shining in your eyes!", "so soft to the touch"..... Her beautiful 2020 girl is just as shiny and soft as she was as a juvenile. We are thrilled to have her, especially as she is our last Smokejumper offspring and only one of three (fortunately all girls). We named her Torch Glow as a nod to her sire as well as in recognition of her shine. Glow has since produced her own beautiful girls. To keep that trend going, we bred Carnaval to our Axios, another herd member notable for his shine and softness. We had hoped for another beautiful golden girl or even a grey or black since both Carnaval and Axios have grey heritage and Carnaval also has dark coloration. Our cria by Axios came right on time -- a boy with bay black coloration. His fiber has a lovely shine, density and crimp. Though we always hope for girls we were happy with this outcome. Our sadness is that he suffered an inner ear infection that made him miss out on showing and has given him a slight head tilt (forever eliminating him from showing). In the interest of exploring her potential for dark crias, we bred her to our champion Maelstrom to produce a very nice bay black girl that has be a strong girl since birth! We have high hopes for our lovely Milagros in our black breedings in her future. We reluctantly added her to our auction listings in 2025, as we only take the best alpacas we can, but partially hope she will not sell! We loved the look of our Axios crias, so we bred her that way for a lovely bay black girl this year! Needless to say, we are happy to keep this girl too!

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)True Black
AOA# 35053026DOB: 6/16/20159 yrs
26x champ, incl. '16, '17, '18 AOA Nationals AOA Color Champion in 2016 fleece and in 2017 Halter and Fleece! He has more wins that can be counted, but check his show results below to see his consistency! We had been looking for quite a while for that one special black male to add to our herd in complement to our Dark Secret / Black Maestrom line. Fate smiled on us when we saw Stradivaruius as a juvenile to add to our program. Even in his tui tips, we knew he was the one and acted immediately. Even with our experience and confidence, we could not help be pleased with the confirmation of our opinion by his exceptional show results. A true black herdsire, Stradivarius is a 26x fleece and halter black champion with champion bloodlines in his pedigree which hails back to both Snowmass and Patagonia, through his sire Snowmass Andean Midnight and dam Patagonia's Simone (pivotal farms that were pioneers in the industry). His show wins include AOA National Show Halter Champion, AOA National Show Invited Champion Champion, and 3x AOA National Fleece Show Champion. We have been very selective with breedings to him, closed to outside breedings, to ensure the best case scenarios in most situations for black offspring. From this, 83% of the time he produced black (TB & BB) and 100% of the time, when bred to black dams. When bred to dams of other colors he produced black 43% of the time but darkened the cria 100% of the time. His spectacular offspring include AutumnSun's Aislyn, who won banners at the AOA National Fleece show both as a Juvenile in 2021 for us and as a 2yr old in 2023 for her new owners, Carol and Christian Howard of Cinco C Alpacas and Lynn Edens of Little Creek Alpacas. His son, AutumnSun's Peacekeeper, took a champion placing as a 3 year old breeding stud for his new owners in Austria, Oberstein Alpacas! Both Aislyn and Peacekeeper are making their own beautiful black crias for their new herds. Stradivarius is closed to outside breedings and us only available as service sire for sold ASA alpacas.

Description

FOUNDATION DAM THAT IS NOT FOR SALE. This girl is a tribute to her late sire, Smokejumper -- bearing fleece with his beautiful crimp and uniformity -- and her dam's lovely glowing fine fleece. As her first cria, Glow produced a beautiful DB/BB girl by Cinco C's Captain Cognac, our Cinnamon Fireball! We definitely kept Fireball at home, as one of only 3 cria we produced that year and definitely the best! We cannot wait to breed Fireball into our black line. Glow is definitely demanding her rightful place in our foundation dam group. Her 2024 cria is a stunning medium fawn girl by our Axios. This girl is going to be fantastic.

Awards

3rd - 2021 GWAS brown juvenile walking fleece, Sara Jane MacLennan (18/20 for fineness/handle with a overall score that would have garnered her an Advanced Fleece Award, if that was given for walking fleece shows at the same 80% of available points, as it is awarded for traditional fleece shows).
[1st] - Color Champion in Youth Halter 2022 AOA National Halter Show
