Lola Falana was the kind of foundation girl that puts her all into producing award-winning cria. She was the daughter of an award winning grey sire, the mother of award winning crias, and a consistent and easy breeder. She would carry her pregnancies with consistently unassisted births. Her crias are healthy, calm, and independent. So much so, that we have decided to retire her from breeding until her eventual passing on our farm. One of our first alpacas, we appreciate all she did for us. We keep this listing here so that you can see all her great qualities in her offspring!
===
A 5 word summary: black, dense, shiny, crimpy, and gentle. She has beautifully glossy, dense and crimpy fiber -- amazing for a true black alpaca. Her fiber weight is solid, at just over 6 lbs. She passes her density and luster to her cria, while letting the service sire's fiber characteristics (like color, crimp, etc.) through.
** She is the Dam of our fantastic blue ribbon winner QP's "Who's Your Daddy" -- passing him her extremely long eyelashes and tufty ears and her calm nature. He has bred in earnest this year to several dams and we look forward to the dark, crimpy offspring next year.
** Her breeding to Imaginary Farms Legendary Monroe resulted in the 2006 arrival of Lola's beautiful grey tuxedo boy, named AutumnSuns Silver Dustdevil. Dusty has great facial coverage, true conformation, dark eyes, awesome crimp and shine, and not a spot of other color on his blanket. He was sold as a yearling to a farm interested in his fine and consistent fiber.
** In 2008 Lola gave us our exceptional rose grey girl by Kanaka, AutumnSun's Frosted Red Rose. As a juvenile old Rosie had already secured 3 reserve champion positions. We already have Rosie's 2010 service sire selected and cannot wait to see what Lola's Grand-cria will be like.
** In 2009 and Kanaka produced another beautiful female: AutumnSun's Summer Solstice. ...a rich caramel colored fawn color with her sire's white brow mark, she's fine, soft, shiny, and dense! She did not have as much crimp as her siblings, and so didn't make the show ring. But she was at a disadvantage, as Lola had acquired a tooth abscess in 2009 likely from a rock in the hay and pulled down in weight. In fact, with serious weight loss and strong antibiotics she was given, Lola lost her pregnancy that year. So, Summer had to wean off early. How, Summer has turned into a great mom herself now!
** In 2012, after being open for a couple of years, Lola birthed a cute as a button black male that we named AutumnSun's Building A Mystery (BAM). BAM BAM as the boys like to call him, is good on density, crimp, and coverage, with that exceptional shine Lola puts on her crias! We unfortunately lost Bam to a freak accident as a weanling. He was such a sweet, nice looking boy that we miss.
([3rd]) Also helped to secure 3rd in Produce of Dam for Lola, impressive in a class of several whites and using her MSG half brother that is 19 months older!
