Kanaka

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)White, Medium Fawn

Kanaka is the most renowned of all of Avatar's offspring. In his amazing show career, Kanaka amassed 6 Color Championships, 2 Reserve Color Champs, and a dozen blue ribbons in both halter and fleece. If that wasn't enough, Kanaka has an awesome EPD ranking too. He is ranked top 1% in BOTH SD and %>30. His AFD and SF ranks are in the top 2%. With about 50 kids on the ground - when bred to silver or true black, he seems to want to throw grey about 1/2 the time. However, most of his girl friends have been light in color. Not that color matters with his quality - but since his dad is rose grey - some breeders may choose to point him in that direction. Kanaka has the very best of Avatar - and Legacy - two of the best herd sires in the U.S. - concentrated in one amazing male. His breeding career has unfortunately been a bit limited, due to sometimes finding himself at farms that have been divorcing, downsizing or liquidating. That said - he does have some excellent kids on the ground, including EON Hadassah, who racked up the following awards in her amazing career: 4 Championships, 8 blues, 3 seconds, 1 third, 3 fourths and a fifth. Kanaka also sired the grey mother of Autumnsun's Dauntless - one of the best greys currently showing in Colorado and a champion in her own right. Give him half a chance and he'll knock it out of the park. We are offering 10 introductory breedings at $500. 7 remaining. UPDATE: Kanaka settled his first female about 3 hours after arriving. Pre-potency has certainly not been lost whilst not breeding. He now has a handful of girls spitting off. We've bred him to white, fawn, black and grey. Kanaka's crias have arrived in white, fawn, light rose, and dark rose grey. His fleece continues to amaze as well. His 13th fleece is 20.7 micron with a 4.4 SD and 44.3 Curve and only 3.2% > 30. Wow!

Dam of Winners! (Deceased)

QP's Lola Falana (reference)

HuacayaOpen (Female)True Black
AOA# 1007879DOB: 5/13/200321 yrs
Lola Falana was the kind of foundation girl that puts her all into producing award-winning cria. She was the daughter of an award winning grey sire, the mother of award winning crias, and a consistent and easy breeder. She would carry her pregnancies with consistently unassisted births. Her crias are healthy, calm, and independent. So much so, that we have decided to retire her from breeding until her eventual passing on our farm. One of our first alpacas, we appreciate all she did for us. We keep this listing here so that you can see all her great qualities in her offspring! === A 5 word summary: black, dense, shiny, crimpy, and gentle. She has beautifully glossy, dense and crimpy fiber -- amazing for a true black alpaca. Her fiber weight is solid, at just over 6 lbs. She passes her density and luster to her cria, while letting the service sire's fiber characteristics (like color, crimp, etc.) through. ** She is the Dam of our fantastic blue ribbon winner QP's "Who's Your Daddy" -- passing him her extremely long eyelashes and tufty ears and her calm nature. He has bred in earnest this year to several dams and we look forward to the dark, crimpy offspring next year. ** Her breeding to Imaginary Farms Legendary Monroe resulted in the 2006 arrival of Lola's beautiful grey tuxedo boy, named AutumnSuns Silver Dustdevil. Dusty has great facial coverage, true conformation, dark eyes, awesome crimp and shine, and not a spot of other color on his blanket. He was sold as a yearling to a farm interested in his fine and consistent fiber. ** In 2008 Lola gave us our exceptional rose grey girl by Kanaka, AutumnSun's Frosted Red Rose. As a juvenile old Rosie had already secured 3 reserve champion positions. We already have Rosie's 2010 service sire selected and cannot wait to see what Lola's Grand-cria will be like. ** In 2009 and Kanaka produced another beautiful female: AutumnSun's Summer Solstice. ...a rich caramel colored fawn color with her sire's white brow mark, she's fine, soft, shiny, and dense! She did not have as much crimp as her siblings, and so didn't make the show ring. But she was at a disadvantage, as Lola had acquired a tooth abscess in 2009 likely from a rock in the hay and pulled down in weight. In fact, with serious weight loss and strong antibiotics she was given, Lola lost her pregnancy that year. So, Summer had to wean off early. How, Summer has turned into a great mom herself now! ** In 2012, after being open for a couple of years, Lola birthed a cute as a button black male that we named AutumnSun's Building A Mystery (BAM). BAM BAM as the boys like to call him, is good on density, crimp, and coverage, with that exceptional shine Lola puts on her crias! We unfortunately lost Bam to a freak accident as a weanling. He was such a sweet, nice looking boy that we miss.

Description

Summer has an easy personality and excellent mothering skills. Her heritage is filled with color, black and grey, as witnessed in the grey highlights at the edges of her lovely fleece. Her conformation is boxy and straight, well-balanced and strong, giving her an easy movement and confident stature. She is a lovely daughter from Lola and the 8 times color champion and reserve champion Kanaka, which means her lineage boasts Felix, Rayo de Sol, and Avatar among others. Summer has a soft, fine fiber with high frequency crimp along her long staple and with good uniformity across her blanket. Her medium fawn, lustrous fiber is lovely to touch and spin! Her first cria is an eye-catching true black girl, the daughter of the impressive Chase Tavern Juggernaut. Her second breeding was to Futurity & GWAS reserve champion stud, Major General -- a Patagonia's Ernesto son that is packing on the fiber! They produced a lovely dark maroon / bay black girl that combines these two alpacas' fiber and frame. Carmine is so soft and silky that she has been described as the Velveteen Rabbit.
