UPDATE: On August 8th, Minuet gave birth to her 4th female cria in a row---she's 4 for 4!!!! Avalon's Maegan is well grown with fiber that is a solid bay black color with bold crimp. She is well conformed and has great presence! Until weaning, Maegan can be purchased with her dam for a package price. Minuet attracts attention with her striking color and upright stature. She is a fancy, with bay black as her primary color. Rose grey, silver grey and medium fawn spots are scattered through her blanket. Good conformation and bone complete the picture. Minuet, Lyric's dam, surprised us with this one! In 2005, when bred to Aristocrat, she produced a bay black female cria, Avalon's Nadia. When we repeated the breeding, she gave us Lyric, a pretty and dense white female with blue eyes. Alpaca genetics are interesting to say the least!! Lyric is a sweet female. Her coverage is complete on a sturdy, large boned, straight frame. She has a lovely head with a very good bite. We have often heard that blue eyed white females are potential producers of grey offspring. To test this for ourselves, we bred Lyric to our Black Jag for a 2008 cria. And, although we didn't get grey, we did get a handsome black male with white markings on his face, Avalon's Rapper...and is he cute! Plus, as we expected, Lyric birthed easily, had good milk for her cria, and has been an excellent mother! We have decided to hold off on rebreeding Lyric at this time, although we have no question that she would rebreed easily. This decision allows us to offer Lyric at an even better price. This means that as her buyer, you are free to take her home to breed to your own special male. Should you wish to breed Lyric to an Avalon Farm male, we will offer her with a 1 time breeding to either Champion, Peruvian Black Jag, or Snowmass King Crimson for the additonal special reduced fee of $1500.
