Minuet, Lyric's dam, surprised us with this one! In 2005, when bred to Aristocrat, she produced a bay black female cria, Avalon's Nadia. When we repeated the breeding, she gave us Lyric, a pretty and dense white female with blue eyes. Alpaca genetics are interesting to say the least!! Lyric is a sweet female. Her coverage is complete on a sturdy, large boned, straight frame. She has a lovely head with a very good bite. We have often heard that blue eyed white females are potential producers of grey offspring. To test this for ourselves, we bred Lyric to our Black Jag for a 2008 cria. And, although we didn't get grey, we did get a handsome black male with white markings on his face, Avalon's Rapper...and is he cute!
