Victorian Gold has many desirable traits that benefit you. His fiber maintained its fineness and handle as he matured. His cria fleece was amazing -- with a high amplitude crimp, intense luster, good density, long staple length, and beautiful body coverage. Buttery soft with a warm shine and long staple as a yearling, his fleece continued to be a length and fineness that allowed us to use it for next-to-skin roving production well into his maturity. Tory, as we call him, has a pedigree that couples his dam's Snowmass color program heritage with a solid Perurvian presence, including the fiber and color qualities inherited from his Pperuvian Pluro and Pperuvian Victor lineage. His dam Snowmass Victorian Glow is an alpaca with 'staying power' in fleece characteristics, and her Snowmass bloodlines definitely contributed to his amazing fiber. Familially, his brothers from his birth farm, 'Spanish Peaks Alpha Centauri' and 'Banderas,' were show-winning males that produced crias which continued to have outstanding fleece. In addition to the fine density that Tory showed he could pass to his crias, he demonstrated also that he could push colors to his crias. His first cria, born in 2009, is a light fawn, crimpy, dense male out of our blue ribbon white girl Tiramisu. With coverage down to his toes, G.O. presented his soft & bright fiber well. Due to an injury as a cria, G.O. never had the opportunity to be shown in the ring. Tory's second cria in 2009 was a beautiful black girl out of dark brown dam, which we called AutumnSun's Jet-Black Pearl. She is fine, very bright, and soft with good crimp. True black for the first 3 years, she is now an even DSG across her blanket. She is currently in our foundation having produced our fantastic rose grey females Puzzle and Bliss and her 2016 LRG girl. In 2010, Tory had a modern MRG male out of a MB dam. He is a soft, gentle, cute male with his teddy bear face! In 2011, Tory was the sire of a classic MRG girl out of a DSG dam; Spice shows the soft fiber that Tory passes on! In 2012, Tory had a TB boy from a TB dam. This boy was sweet and cute, with a teddy coverage on his head and legs, and very fine & shiny fiber. We lost him to a tragic freak accident as a weanling and we are sure he would have been a beautiful male, a black "Tory" in looks and fiber. Reference listing as we have retired Tory from breeding.

Laurel Ridge's Kalista

HuacayaOpen (Female)Dark Silver Grey
AOA# 1213249DOB: 4/7/200519 yrs
EASY PRODUCTION DAM FOR FINE-FIBERED GREY CRIAS! Kalista had the lovely classic MEDIUM ROSE GREY girl with an feminine elegance, sired by our fawn stud Victorian Gold! Spice has the tuxedo white, good coverage, true conformation, and very soft fiber. When bred to our multiple Champion true black male Dark Secret she had a beautiful classic dark SILVER GREY girl! Kalista is being sold with her 2013 breeding at your choice, even bred back to our champion Secret. Kalista is fitting right in with our dams that like to make black and grey girls for us (like Jetta and Millie!). An easy breeder, birthing and attentive, caring dam -- Kalista is a great addition to a grey/black breeding program! Trade: we will consider a trade for an quality appaloosa dam or a blue-ribbon grey male. She may be combined with one of our other 'trade dams' depending on the quality of the trade.

Service Sire: AutumnSun's Apache Longbow

'16 GWAS Fleece CC w/ 3yr old fleece

AutumnSun's Apache Longbow

HuacayaMaleMedium Rose Grey
AOA# 31990936DOB: 11/13/201113 yrs
Longbow is eye-catching in his proud stance and uniform coloration. The reduction of spots on greys in the show ring has been remarkable with a solid blanket being more common, but Longbow still stands out for his extremely uniform rose grey color as his coat is an even 'roaning' heather without spots. With our champion Frosted Red Rose as his dam and Snowmass Enlightenment as his sire, you can see the strong resemblance! He also inherited his dam's fine, uniform fiber, and a high-frequency crimp from staple to tip all across his blanket. Both Rosie and Longbow have excellent consistency of ratio of micron between light and dark fibers for an markedly smooth handle. His high frequency crimp as well as his fineness are uniform across his blanket and extends from his hips to his shoulders -- another thing that he has gotten from his dam, so his prime fiber clip is extensive. Longbow is well conformed, with a solid frame and proud carriage, easy movement and strong bones, and good bite and nice head. His dark eyes are decorated with a mesmerizing 'bedroom eyes' eyeliner of dark fiber, with his wedge head, spear ears, and good coverage showing an attractive head without any of the wool-blind (wooly face) concerns. Even the fact that he unfortunately lost the very tip of his left ear to frostbite as a newborn still does not detract from his overall beautiful, classic face. Bow is proven, having bred on our farm and fellow farms in the area to produce several very nice crias. The crias have ranged from very nice (good show quality/excellent foundation) to 'Oh, amazing' in fleece qualities. At a marketing event, we sold two breedings on the spot after the farm saw and touched him. He has produced black crias from black dams, a dark rose grey from a DSG dam, a fawn-grey from a LRG dam, and a fawn from a DRG dam. Though he never really got to shine out in the ring, we knew that he had somethings special. When we pulled a sample from Bow's 2015 clip we were amazed with how much fineness, crimp, density, uniformity and staple as a mature stud. The judges agree since, in our pleased amazement, he secured Color Champion in grey at the 2016 GWAS fleece show! Bow never got the opportunities he deserved, and we lost him before he had the chance to go to another farm.

Description

Spice is aptly named as her bay black and white fibers look like spices in a bowl. Colorwise, this fiber is beautiful as handspun yarn and even more intriguing when blended with fawn and/or chestnut browns. But Spice is not just a producer of soft alpaca fiber. She comes from a lineage of color and lasting fineness that, if she is like her parents, she will pass on to her crias. Spice is a classic dark rose grey with a white blaze and the top of a tuxedo marking. She has an evenly combined dark / white fibers, lighter neck roaning, and no white socks. It seems that Spice would be nicely paired with either classic grey or a modern grey. Her fiber is fine and soft, with small high frequency crimp and good staple length. She is balanced in her proportions, solid in bone, and nicely framed. She is well grown and moves elegantly with an ease of movement. As 4th generation grey alpaca, Spice has a strong grey pedigree. With maternal ancestors like Fantasy's Promise and Silvio, her lineage is a testimony to her solid place in a grey breeding program. Her 'rose' in her grey is a nod to her fawn sire. From her sire, our Spanish Peak's Victorian Gold ('Tory'), she has the benefit of Snowmass breeding. Tory himself displayed a long-lasting fineness, as well as an apparent prepotence in passing on his fineness. From her sire, Spice's heritage includes PPeruvian Pluro and PP. Victor -- both know for their offspring with fineness and handle. Spice had a very nice fawn boy but he unfortunately was lost as newborn to illness. She unfotunately has a a bit of trouble cycling since last year but might just need a vet work up before breeding. Therefore, she is being sold without warranty but her certificate can be transferred at buyer's cost as a breeder.
