Aspen Ridge Augusto's Cochiti

Bred in the high mountains of New Mexico, Cochiti (pronounced CO-chi-tee)is nothing short of spectacular. A large, tall male with a proud head and bearing, Cochiti has already impressed judges with his presence as well as his fleece in big company. His achievements include White Male Color Champion at both GWAS (Denver) and AlpacaFest West. More recently, he won White Color Champion and the award for Best Crimp in the AWE Fleece Show 2006. Included in that competition was the White Color Champion at the AOBA 2005 Fleece Show. The judge, Cameron Holt, the world's foremost expert on alpaca fiber, took one look at Cochiti's fleece and said, "Well, we can pack up and go home now. This is it." Cochiti's extremely dense, crimpy fleece with incredible staple length impressed us so much we put a group together to purchase this male before he had begun breeding, and he has not let us down. Cochiti has settled nine females so far, all on the first attempt. He not only brings the genetics of his sire Augusto, but also the possibility of color since his dam is dark brown. His cria(in a range of colors) are exquisite, exhibiting elite style fleece characteristics and excellent conformation. Cochiti is co-owned with Canzelle Alpacas in Santa Barbara, CA, HummingHerd Alpacas in Emmet, Idaho and Lightheart Ranch in Somis, CA. Producing excellence time and again

Hummingherd's Laureate

Laureate was one of our first purchases when we started in this great industry in 2006. She's certainly one of our older dams now, but is still producing absolutely superior offspring. Check out her 2014 cria Lyra. We would love to see Laureate go to a home where she will be well cared for, and perhaps be bred a couple more times to repeat her genetics. The one constant we have seen with Laureates offspring is density and fineness. Just what astute breeders are looking for.

Congratulations to Mike and Nancy Brletic of Simple Life Farms for their purchase of Magic Man. He is an amazing male will no doubt produce next generation elite cria!! Magic is what happened when we crossed our Archangel daughter, CCNF Evita with a Nautilus son, Accoyo America Tempest. All we can say is holy cow! - just take a look at his pic's! Magic Man was just weaned and already weighs a solid 80lbs. His fleece is phenomenal with superior organization and architecture - the bundling in his fiber is just amazing and it bundles in his tail, his neck and even his legs. He is extremely bright with a fineness and handle that just might be better than his older 1/2 brother Tupac (thank you Evita!) - and that's saying something indeed! At 6 months old he already has a staple length of 4". His dam is our own CCNF Evita. Check out her page to see how her contribution to this boy is equally as impressive as his sires. His sire, Accoyo America Tempest, is out of the notorious Nautilus - one of the cornerstone males in Greg Mecklems breeding program. The skin biopsy results for Tempest were fantastic and one of the big factors we chose him as herdsire for 2 of our top dams. Take a look at his results; "The results of his skin biopsy (Watt) are EXCELLENT!! At 43 months: Density 63/mm2, Secondary:Primary fiber ratio: 13.3:1 Primary fiber diameter 23.9 Secondary fiber diameter 15.9. Ian Watt points out that, "he has an excellent fiber population differential of only 8 microns. ...a superior fiber for a near four year old working male. " BREAKING NEWS: For 2011 Tempest sheared 15 pounds total, with a blanket weight of 4.9 pounds!!" Check out Tempest's EPDs: AFD -1.447, SDAFD -0.1, SF-1.276, %F>30 -4.19, MC 5.22, SDMC2.028, %M-2.623 Magic Man has a pedigree loaded with alpaca royalty and a fleece that embodies the best traits of those that came before him.

Description

This girl is definitely for the discerning breeder. Amalaya was the first female cria born on our farm; she was impressive at birth and continues to impress us today. We were amazed at the brightness to her fleece- several breeders at the shows we attended were also impressed. Her place in the history of our farm will always be special- she was the first alpaca that entered a show for Gem State Alpacas! She took 5th in a very large white female juvenile class at the CABA Classic, with judge Julio Sumar commenting "I like this one very much". She followed that show with a 6th place at the AOBA National Show in Sandy, Utah in a class of 18 alpacas! As new breeders to the alpaca industry it was a very exciting time. So far, her fleece has won 2 first place ribbons as well as the white color champion at the NW Alpaca Showcase in 2009. Amalaya has without a doubt been one of our best producers since she began her breeding career in 2009. Her offspring routinely ribbon, and go on to become seed stock on our farm. The astute breeder will recognize her excellence, and understand matching her in the future with the proper stud will continue producing elite alpacas. Amalaya is selling with her 2016 Accoyo America Tronador son, Amatron. He is without a doubt show material. Very dense, bright, excellent frame, with great character at a young age. If I were a betting man, I'd place a sizable bet on Amatron being awarded a blue ribbon and potential championship. He is that good. To truly appreciate the genetics and excellence this young male brings, check out Tron's page from Paca Paradise: https://www.openherd.com/alpacas-for-sale/45103/accoyo-america-tronador Amalaya's EPD- %>30- Top 3% (.032) AFD- Top 6% (.065) MC- Top 6% (.06) SF- Top 6% (.062) SDAFD- Top 10% (.107)
