Red Granites Man Of Mystery (formerly known as Red Granites Pinctus), The perfect harlequin appaloosa fleeced alpaca. He has everything we look for, strength in the frame, great phenotype, confident spunky personality, and a simply divine fleece. There are so many wonderful terms to describe his fleece the most important is its extremely dense, fine, uniform, and, very consistent. Judges favored him all throughout his show career, commenting on not only his exotic coloration but his extraordinary amount of density that he carried. At the 2018 AOA National Show, Judges commented on how Pinctus may just be one of the finest/dentist harlequin appaloosas out there, which is to be expected from his backstory of ancestors who are known for long-lasting fineness and density. Taking a deeper dive into his color, which he gets from his great-grandsire, Black Epic, who is one of the most prolific Harlequin Appaloosa producers out there. Pinctus' fleece can be described as lavender coloration, a purple-fawn-rose/silver grey effect that mainly happens with harlequin alpacas, true harlequin alpacas to be exact. Having tones of lavender, fawn, white, and even brown spots from his head to toes, he is considered to be an appaloosa Harlequin huacaya, which no doubt will be passed on to his progeny. "At 127.2 follicles/square mm density, Pintus is the densest alpaca yet biopsied by Ian Watt in the USA, and I have not yet heard of a denser alpaca out there. With a primary SD of 2.5, secondary SD of 2.2, and fiber population differential of 3.5, he is also one of the most uniform. To quote Ian Watt directly, "overall this is the best alpaca I have tested in the US." Kitt Hollister, Howling Hill Farms. We would love to congratulate Kitt Holter of Howling Hill Farms for the purchase of Red Granites Pinctus, though he was just sold to Willow Wind Farm Alpacas and is back in colorado! He is restricted to breedings, but offspring are available says his new owner, Annie Hunt!
