We had been looking for quite a while for that one special black male to add to our herd in complement to our Dark Secret / Black Maestrom line. Fate smiled on us when we saw Stradivaruius as a juvenile to add to our program. Even in his tui tips, we knew he was the one and acted immediately. Even with our experience and confidence, we could not help be pleased with the confirmation of our opinion by his exceptional show results. A true black herdsire, Stradivarius is a 26x fleece and halter black champion with champion bloodlines in his pedigree which hails back to both Snowmass and Patagonia, through his sire Snowmass Andean Midnight and dam Patagonia's Simone (pivotal farms that were pioneers in the industry). His show wins include AOA National Show Halter Champion, AOA National Show Invited Champion Champion, and 3x AOA National Fleece Show Champion. We have been very selective with breedings to him, closed to outside breedings, to ensure the best case scenarios in most situations for black offspring. From this, 83% of the time he produced black (TB & BB) and 100% of the time, when bred to black dams. When bred to dams of other colors he produced black 43% of the time but darkened the cria 100% of the time. His spectacular offspring include AutumnSun's Aislyn, who won banners at the AOA National Fleece show both as a Juvenile in 2021 for us and as a 2yr old in 2023 for her new owners, Carol and Christian Howard of Cinco C Alpacas and Lynn Edens of Little Creek Alpacas. His son, AutumnSun's Peacekeeper, took a champion placing as a 3 year old breeding stud for his new owners in Austria, Oberstein Alpacas! Both Aislyn and Peacekeeper are making their own beautiful black crias for their new herds. Stradivarius is closed to outside breedings and us only available as service sire for sold ASA alpacas.

With glowing fleece and calm, easy-going personality, Song was born big (~22 lbs at birth and ~90 lbs at 9 mos) & grew at an amazing pace. She is well conformed, with a strong and straight frame even in her maturity. She has been a fantastic mom, just like her own mom and daughters. Song is the dam the you can build whole programs from, one that just keeps producing. She has had predominately white crias for us but that is due to the way she was bred. Don't be fooled by this into thinking that she is a white production dam. Her first cria was a true black female sired by a dark brown male. Her dam also produced a dark brown male sired by a grey stud. Both her dam and sire have a lineage infused with color genetics. In fact, her sire produced dark brown and bay black when bred to color. Song is worthy of praise as a production 'cornerstone' dam, so I will compliment her by praise of her progeny's exceptional traits. Regardless of color, her crias have all been desirable, some at champion levels in the show ring. They also have her spot-on confirmation, solid bones, and great coverage. Notably, her stud son Supermassive lives up to his name in conformation and coverage, as he was described by a judge as 'rooted to the ground'. Supermassive passed these traits -- in addition to an unusually long, decidedly crimpy, fiber -- to Superluminal. 'Luminal had so much fiber as a weanling that it threw off his 'boxy look' and one judge that awarded him high marks also said he would be much better once his (5 lb!) cria fleece was shorn off. Danica is another offspring that stood out from the crowd as a cria for her vitality as she literally ran around Song while learning how to nurse as newborn. Danica went on to win two banners against significant competition. Fresca, a light fawn girl from Song's daughter Aika produced fiber that was dense, crimpy and long but also so shiny that one's eye was drawn to it like to sunlight. Song's girl, Melody, went on to produce a spectacularly fleeced male, such that we kept her open for years while attempting to coordinate our timing with the stud's farm for another breeding. Eirwen, daughter of our champion black male Dark Secret is white but carries the black genetics with the same fantastic fiber and breeding potential. Song, and her dam before her, have been well loved and well bred on our farm, truly producing a cornerstone in our herd. RC '16 AOA Fleece, CC '17 AOA Halter Maelstrom is a 13x champion, the 2016 AOA National Fleece Black Reserve Champion, and 2017 AOA National Halter Black Male Color Champion. His first fleece was measured in 2015 to be 18.81 AFD / 3.62 SD / 19.2% CoV. To bring home his banners, he combined awesome shiny, fine and uniform handle with tight crimp from his dam with Secret's inky-black similarly crimpy, shiny, and consistent fiber. Though both dam and sire have great coverage, Mael's head is credited to his sire's beautiful headstyle that cannot help but catch the eye. He is well conformed and balanced in his frame. Maelstrom has a lineage filled with champion banners, exceptional lineage, and black genetics. In Maelstrom, you have a list of "who's who" merging into a TRUE BLACK 7/8 Peruvian cornerstone herdsire. Maelstrom is the progeny of our multiple champion black herdsire Wolf Den's Dark Secret, who is the optimal result of the pairing of Dark Quest crossed with Othello bloodlines. His paternal grandsire is the well known Snowmass Nova's Dark Quest, son of the famous Snowmass Nova, son of Snowmass Peruvian Casanova. He is out of our lovely Fossil Ridge's Special K, a 7x champion fawn dam hailing from the multiple Champion Rumaki, a Royal Fawn son with the bloodlines of Presido and Felix. His crias have been stunning! Maelstrom's cria coloration to date is 88% black (TB or BB) from a black dam and 100% on our farm by dams whose pedigrees are known to produce black and/or are loaded in black. He has been bred to both black (49%) and non-black (51%) dams. When bred to the lighter colored dams (white, beige, light fawn) he produced crias darker than their dams 60% of the time, even some black crias! When his progeny have been bred to black, 100% of the descendants have been black. More than of one of his crias born to dams at our clients' farms have been described as "blue-black" in their owners glowing compliments.
