Our champion male was a great addition to our farm when he arrived as yearling. In his first big show, the judge, Shannon McConnell, was impressed with Patriot's "total package" and awarded him 1st in the yearling class and as the overall white Color Champion -- reporting that Patriot had the "impact you look for in a herdsire." Patriot's regal and authoritative nature displayed as quiet confidence in the show ring and later translated to assertive attentiveness as a breeding herdsire. But beyond his calm and confident personality, his fiber qualities are also impressive. His brilliant fleece was extremely dense, soft & crimpy that held well into his maturity. His boxy frame and straight conformation amplifies his regal countenance. This is not surprising considering his 'noble' bloodlines. In Magical Farms Herdsire Catalog book, they had professed their glowing praise of Patriot's Grandsire, PPPeruvian Dracula, who was known for his genetics for very dense fiber. Magical Farm's praise was not just manifested in Patriot but also his ciras. Best yet, these bloodlines are not overused so you breeding conflicts are not common. In compliment of his fantastic paternal Accoyo (white) genetics, Patriot has an infusion of color bloodlines from his dam's lineage. When bred to a brown females, Patriot has produced three dark crias: a medium brown girl (who has had a 14 micron cria), our bay black female AutumnSun's Patriot Promise (who has had one of our best crias in 2014), and a bay black male. Even his white cria, AutumnSun's Sweet Patriotic Song (from a white dam), has his pleasing fiber and upright frame. Song has been one of our best foundation dams producing show worthy and colored crias (to include a bay black).

Tira was one of the original gems of our herd, refined and elegant but tough enough to be an awesome mom! You could not refute the inner brightness and shine of her healthy fiber that imparted excellent handle to this day. Her fiber length was great and her density awesome -- where other farms often asked if she had been sheared early for more than one year of growth! This density impressed the judges in the show ring. Mike Safley really liked our girl at the 2006 GWAS. She was the first (he touched her on the way in) and most touched alpaca in the class. He could not take his eyes off her -- and why not, she was eye-catching! In his judge's comments, he said that she would be an excellent foundation female and to make sure to find her the right male! It's nice to know that one of the greatest alpaca 'founders' agrees with us! Tira's first cria was born at an impressive +21 lbs., and this robust cria was up immediately and nursing. That's the kind of crias Tira has. When bred to whites and lights Tira has produced whites, but when bred to color Tira has produced color in her crias. Her first cria Kimberly-Sue was so fine and shiny that she caught the eye of an outside farm as juvenile and moved to their program. Her second cria was our lovely Song, who has gone on herself to produce fantastic crias in our herd. In addition, she has produced three males of color - a light fawn, a medium fawn and now a dark brown cria with a handsome face. We do love what Song is producing that we recommend breeding Tira back to Patriot for her next cria. Tira is a mom with dense, well handled fleece that she passed onto her healthy, beautiful, and fast growing crias. We have decided to give Tira a break and retire her.

Description

With glowing fleece and calm, easy-going personality, Song was born big (~22 lbs at birth and ~90 lbs at 9 mos) & grew at an amazing pace. She is well conformed, with a strong and straight frame even in her maturity. She has been a fantastic mom, just like her own mom and daughters. Song is the dam the you can build whole programs from, one that just keeps producing. She has had predominately white crias for us but that is due to the way she was bred. Don't be fooled by this into thinking that she is a white production dam. Her first cria was a true black female sired by a dark brown male. Her dam also produced a dark brown male sired by a grey stud. Both her dam and sire have a lineage infused with color genetics. In fact, her sire produced dark brown and bay black when bred to color. Song is worthy of praise as a production 'cornerstone' dam, so I will compliment her by praise of her progeny's exceptional traits. Regardless of color, her crias have all been desirable, some at champion levels in the show ring. They also have her spot-on confirmation, solid bones, and great coverage. Notably, her stud son Supermassive lives up to his name in conformation and coverage, as he was described by a judge as 'rooted to the ground'. Supermassive passed these traits -- in addition to an unusually long, decidedly crimpy, fiber -- to Superluminal. 'Luminal had so much fiber as a weanling that it threw off his 'boxy look' and one judge that awarded him high marks also said he would be much better once his (5 lb!) cria fleece was shorn off. Danica is another offspring that stood out from the crowd as a cria for her vitality as she literally ran around Song while learning how to nurse as newborn. Danica went on to win two banners against significant competition. Fresca, a light fawn girl from Song's daughter Aika produced fiber that was dense, crimpy and long but also so shiny that one's eye was drawn to it like to sunlight. Song's girl, Melody, went on to produce a spectacularly fleeced male, such that we kept her open for years while attempting to coordinate our timing with the stud's farm for another breeding. Eirwen, daughter of our champion black male Dark Secret is white but carries the black genetics with the same fantastic fiber and breeding potential. Song, and her dam before her, have been well loved and well bred on our farm, truly producing a cornerstone in our herd. Eirwen: 2018 (cria) 19.5 um / 5" staple; 2019 (1st) 20.1 um / 4.5" Aika (LF): 2018 (4th fleece) 18.5 um / 3.5" Fresca (LF g.daughter): 2018 (cria) 16.2 um / 5" Danica (WH): 2016 (cria) 17.8 um / 5"; 2018 (2nd) 21.5 um / 4" Tyson (DB 1/2 brother): 2016 (2nd) 20.8 um / 4" Muster (WH g.son): 2017: 15.8 um / 4" in 8 mos growth; 2018 (1st): 17.9 um/ 4" Supermassive (LF): 2014 (2nd): 21.1um / 3.5" Superluminal (WH g.son): 2018 (cria): 16.3 um / 6" Song produces Black!!
