"Turvy" is a long awaited addition to our herd out of the Derwydd Alpacas breeding program. His pedigree reads like a "who's who" list of appaloosa alpaca genetics with Hannahruh top and bottom, Peruvian Platinum, Enchanted Hill Lutau, Enchanted Hill Appalucy and Xus. Turvy also fulfills the 20-year dream of obtaining an alpaca from the El R Peruvian Luciano line. In addition, he's got Vintage Cashmere's U-Taupe-IA as paternal grandsire. We fully expect the cria out of this fella will be unique. Turvy is a fairly precocious junior herdsire, already settling females. His first cria are due in May/June 2023. His breeder called Turvy an "upsidedown appy" and possibly a harlequin. Most of his spots are on his belly, the inside of his legs and the underside of his jaw. He does have a light speckling of black freckles across his nose. He looks light fawn in the pasture but his fiber at the skin is closer to medium fawn/taupe and gorgeously crimpy with bundling and consistent fineness. It's easier to see his belly, chin and leg spots when he's sheared. Penne is a blue-eyed white female (she is deaf) with amazingly fine fleece. She had a darling rose grey male cria out of Topsy Turvy in May 2023 we call Calico "Boo". He really is a calico with almost every color you can think of, one fawn and one black ear. Penne had a few issues as a maiden mother, super thick colostrum like Elmer's glue and did not recognize the baby as hers but with a little bonding time she accepted her baby and has been a wonderful mother since. Until he's weaned, Penne sells with rosegrey male cria Boo at side and is bred back for a spring 2024 cria.
