HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Dark Fawn, Light Brown
AOA# 35123064DOB: 8/28/20168 yrs
Here is a coming next gen herdsire that is quite impressive. Stunning from all angles this CCNF Legionnaire son will catch your eye. This male is big featured with plenty of capacity and substance of bone, and was bred to be a prepotent male in uniformity and lasting fineness while keeping his intense curvature rates, which was an overall success. Red Granites McCoy is a Dark Fawn/Light Brown stud male who exhibites superfine, uniform and soft handling fiber characteristics which we have seen him pass on to his crias. His tremendously bright fleece is dense, consistent and well organised in its style of crimp right to his extremities. He is a beautiful true to type macho, has a great phenotype that is addictive to look at and solid bone structure, very stocky, together with a very easy temperament to manage. He is a recent and highly prized addition to our huacaya stud males, along with his paternal superstar brother: Red Granites Aragon, and it was the consistently repeated superior fiber characteristics in his fleeces and sire line which made him a “must have”. He is ranked in Top 1% in EPDs in 2020: 248 of about 27,388 alpacas for AFD! He is also in the Top 5% in three other traits. His progeny exhibit consistently fine, extremely bright and dense fleeces on a very good frame. We are breeding him to our top Val D Lsere daughters and the outcomes have been something words cannot describe. We expect McCoy to take on his sire's role as a top producer here at Red Granite Ranch. From what we have bred him to he produces fawn, brown, and black. His dam, Our Mary Jane, is a Snowmass XXXQuisite (2008 AOBA National Brown Male Reserve Color Champion, Fleece) daughter, he is son to Snowmass XXXTreme and Chima. Mary Jane's dam, Snowmass Wind Song is a daughter to Snowmass Conopa XXX and Followill Cotton Jenny (4Peruvian Legacy daughter). Sire, CCNF Legionnaire is a multi-judges' choice winner, and is son to Snowmass Matrix Majesty (Snowmass Matrix X Snowmass Simply Scrumptious) and CCNF Magdalena (Snowmass Legacy Gold X PPeruvian Jesusa). Fiber and Fleece Description Carries a great high curve 5 years remained to have a high curve 64.3 and low curve of 50.6, high frequency of crimps Excellent brightness and extreme consistency of fiber character over the entire blanket FINENESS GRADE 0 at ages 1, 2, and 3 years old ULTRA ROYAL FINENESS GRADE 1 age 5 years ROYAL

Description

There are truly quite a few reigning queens within the Red Granite Ranch foundation herd, and one in particular is named Anna Lucia. From the time we had purchased her from our good friends at Crescent Moon Ranch (Scott & Debbie Miller) in 2014, a year after she had spent a few months with us in order to be bred to Snowmass Matrix Rose - we knew she was something special, and adding the fact she is an AOBA National Champion in Fleece & Halter makes her even more special. Anna Lucia is a foundation female who we have taken in full, and she has more representatives from her line on our show team than any other line in our programs history. Something to also note is she produced the: 2017 AOA National Black Female Reserve Color Champion, 2020 AOA National Fawn Male Color Champion, 2021 AOA National Fawn Male Invited Reserve Color Champion, and the 2023 AOA National Brown Male Color Champion winners. Add the fact that five out of her eight offspring have won banners and if they have they have won over 4, and you have a female you can count on to produce show winning, seed-stock huacaya alpacas in dark colors. She was also the Produce of Dam winner at the 2020 AOA National Show in both Fleece & Halter! So that was a really long introduction to basically say that Red Granites Amgio’s dam is a bonafide living legend. Don’t take our word for it though, check the AOA database: it’s all there. We loved what Anna Lucia did with our Futurity & AOA National Champion CCNF Legionnaire (they produced Red Granites Aragon the 2020 AOA National Fawn Male Color Champion & 2021 AOA National Fawn Male Invited Reserve Color Champion) so much that we bred to one of his rising sons: Red Granites McCoy, which created Amigo! McCoy is a Top 1% EPD holder in AFD and has a micron of 19.8 in 2022 at 6 years old to match - which proved to be perfect for Anna Lucia, and considering McCoy is a distant maternal grandson of both Snowmass Conopa XXX and Snowmass XXXtreme it was a match made in heaven! Although Amigo hasn't had as splashy of an entrance on the show circuit as various family members from his maternal side, to underestimate him would be foolish. Dense, very fine, extremely uniform and bright, and with a propensity to hold that fineness over time, and an extremely long staple - are traits not nearly as common as one might believe. Amigo is still a youngster and we see his future to be extremely bright! Watch for more updates as this one matures!
