We are now closing Legionnaire to outside breedings. With hi weight fluctuation and age we think it best to keep him in house. He has many sons working for us! To say we were excited to partner with Amber Autumn Alpacas with CCNF Legionnaire at the 2014 Breeders Edge Auction would be an understatement, a huge one. In a long run, Legionnaire went on to be the highest selling alpaca at the auction (we bought him for $57,500), figures considering this guys genetics. This spectacular young male was the 2015 Futurity Fawn Male Color Champion & 2015 AOA National Fawn Male Reserve Champion!! Two of the most prestigious shows in the alpaca industry and he took home purple. Ending his show career with four Judges' Choice awards and nine Championship awards. By one of the world’s great sires, out of a female from a sensational family line who has made a huge impact on the United States industry, here we have a male bred on a cross that has been proven to produce champions. CCNF Legionnaire, a son of Snowmass Matirx Majesty, has enjoyed extraordinary success as a sire with championship winners in both the United States and Canada and his offspring being found in Poland, United States, Canada, and Australia. Overall, his offspring have won many championships and even Judges’ Choice and National Championship titles. Even more impressive, his son Red Granites Pallaton (Now resides in Poland) won the 2018 Canadian Supreme Champion Male award, Palltons offspring have had much success in the Canadian show rings themselves. Another son by Legionnaire, Red Granites Man of Mystery (Owned by Willow Wind Farm Alpacas) is the densest alpaca yet biopsied by Ian Watt in the USA, and we have not yet heard of a denser alpaca out there a at a whopping 127.2 follicles/square mm density. His daughter, Red Granites Pixie was sold at the 2018 Amber Autumn Auction for a pretty penny, where she was purchased by EP Cambridge Alpaca Stud in Australia. Combining Cas-Cad-Nac's powerhouse production female; CCNF Magdalena and Snowmass Matrix Majesty you would only hope for an advanced fleece, Legionnaire carries a extremely advanced fleece. He carried a six year old fleece with a AFD of 17.3 and SD of 2.5, SIMPLY UNREAL numbers for a six year old BREEDING male. Here is a coming next gen herdsire that is quite impressive. Stunning from all angles this CCNF Legionnaire son will catch your eye. This male is big featured with plenty of capacity and substance of bone, and was bred to be a prepotent male in uniformity and lasting fineness while keeping his intense curvature rates, which was an overall success. Red Granites McCoy is a Dark Fawn/Light Brown stud male who exhibites superfine, uniform and soft handling fiber characteristics which we have seen him pass on to his crias. His tremendously bright fleece is dense, consistent and well organised in its style of crimp right to his extremities. He is a beautiful true to type macho, has a great phenotype that is addictive to look at and solid bone structure, very stocky, together with a very easy temperament to manage. He is a recent and highly prized addition to our huacaya stud males, along with his paternal superstar brother: Red Granites Aragon, and it was the consistently repeated superior fiber characteristics in his fleeces and sire line which made him a “must have”. He is ranked in Top 1% in EPDs in 2020: 248 of about 27,388 alpacas for AFD! He is also in the Top 5% in three other traits. His progeny exhibit consistently fine, extremely bright and dense fleeces on a very good frame. We are breeding him to our top Val D Lsere daughters and the outcomes have been something words cannot describe. We expect McCoy to take on his sire's role as a top producer here at Red Granite Ranch. From what we have bred him to he produces fawn, brown, and black. His dam, Our Mary Jane, is a Snowmass XXXQuisite (2008 AOBA National Brown Male Reserve Color Champion, Fleece) daughter, he is son to Snowmass XXXTreme and Chima.
