To say that Bocelli holds a special place in my heart would be an understatement. He was produced by Ernie and Denise Gamroth at Battle River Alpacas, and his quality is a testament to their breeding program. His sire is Hummingherd's Rum Runner, a PC Running Late son; and his dam is BR Belicia, out of RGA Miguel and Monterra's Bellana, well known champion and champion producers in Canada. Bocelli is a well put together male who displays an attractive, true to type head style. Judges have always remarked on the high degree of brightness and organization in Bocelli's fleece, its length, and the character that carries throughout from topknot to tail. He continues to maintain a very fine and dense fleece overall. He has produced several silky-fleeced cria to date (his pedigree includes several notable silky producers), with many of Bocelli's offspring displaying above average staple lengths across the blanket and into the neck, in addition to uniformity in micron, style and organization across the blanket. His cria can be identified day or night by their outstanding lustre alone. Having been tested on a range of females, he has proven himself to be a reliable complement to every pairing in passing along his traits without sacrificing colour. To date, all but one of his cria have been the same colour, or darker than their dams. His extremely mild, sociable personality makes him wonderful to work with and be around, alongside his offspring who share his good nature.

Roxcene is an extremely dense female with a feminine air about her. Even into her breeding years she is maintaining positive fleece traits. She is perhaps the densest animal on the farm, with highly organized, high frequency, high amplitude crimp. We have no doubt that if we were to start showing her again, she'd not only hold her own in her classes, she'd excel. She is a friendly girl with a very curious, easy going temperament. She is also a fantastic dam, who is very attentive to her cria. We quite like her genetics, as she has both Rockamundo and Victor's Vaccoyo in her pedigree. We have found our Rockamundo granddaughters to be absolutely excellent in terms of maintaining positive fleece traits, and we hope that these qualities are passed onto their offspring. For Roxcene, seeing the calibur of cria she has provided us this far, we have no doubt that she will continue to do just that. She gave us a fantastic silky-type male in 2017 from our Supreme Champion male Bocelli, so we are excited to see what they produce in 2020 with a repeated pairing!

Description

When Eury was born we knew we had something special. This girl hit the ground running with the longest fleece we've ever seen on a newborn, and she absolutely did not stop. Full sister to Erasmus, we were unsurprised to watch her fleece develop in true silky fashion, with it taking some time to really develop the character it is displaying now, and wow was it worth the wait. Phenotypically, Eury is her sire's carbon copy, with photos of the two of them at the same age being nearly indistinguishable. She is growing fleece with exceptional length, brightness, and uniformity in micron across the blanket, with her cria fleece coming in with an average staple length of 7.5", and her yearling fleece already topping 3" with 3 months growth. A first for us, she sheared a whopping 8.2lbs of fleece at 10 months of age. The attractive qualities of her fleece extend well into her extremities, and if she is anything like her siblings and parents, she should further develop and improve with age. We are pleased to announce that despite missing out on the spring halter show season due to Covid, Euryphaessa's first fleece held its own in the fleece show ring at the fall WCAC, earning a Reserve Championship in the light class, under judge Arturo Pena. We look forward to seeing how her fleece holds up at SABN, and are hopeful to see what the fall halter show season looks like.
