When Eury was born we knew we had something special. This girl hit the ground running with the longest fleece we've ever seen on a newborn, and she absolutely did not stop. Full sister to Erasmus, we were unsurprised to watch her fleece develop in true silky fashion, with it taking some time to really develop the character it is displaying now, and wow was it worth the wait.
Phenotypically, Eury is her sire's carbon copy, with photos of the two of them at the same age being nearly indistinguishable. She is growing fleece with exceptional length, brightness, and uniformity in micron across the blanket, with her cria fleece coming in with an average staple length of 7.5", and her yearling fleece already topping 3" with 3 months growth. A first for us, she sheared a whopping 8.2lbs of fleece at 10 months of age. The attractive qualities of her fleece extend well into her extremities, and if she is anything like her siblings and parents, she should further develop and improve with age.
We are pleased to announce that despite missing out on the spring halter show season due to Covid, Euryphaessa's first fleece held its own in the fleece show ring at the fall WCAC, earning a Reserve Championship in the light class, under judge Arturo Pena. We look forward to seeing how her fleece holds up at SABN, and are hopeful to see what the fall halter show season looks like.
