It's Official ...... "NeverSummer's American Iron" ..... bringing Aussie .38 Special bloodlines back to Stonyridge for the 2015 breeding season! .38 Special has been sold to East Coast breeders, so when the opportunity to host this quality son came along, we jumped. Thank you to owners Dale Davis of Derwydd Alpacas, and Dee Souza of La Dee Da Alpacas for trusting us with your boy. This is his third summer here, and his first crop of cria for us hit the ground last year. They are stunning! Get your reservation early, so you don't miss out on this limited opportunity. American Iron will arrive Mid June and be here through October 2015. Yes, he has the requisite successful run in the show ring, but more importantly this male has the power in his pedigree that tips the scales in his favor for reproducing his awesome phenotype, and desirable conformation and fleece characteristics. 3 year histogram = 22.3/ 4.4/ 19.6 with a spin fineness of 21.7. Iron is full brother to the high-selling alpaca at the 2011 Futurity Auction! "NeverSummer's Chautauqua" Iron's pedigree is packed: Hemingway, Victor, Royal Fawn, 5Peruvian Royal Incan Legend, Lanark's Silver Charm, Peruvian Aladdin ....... and let's not forget Hannaruh. Experienced breeders know the value in stacking a pedigree with proven and repeatable genetics, and American Iron brings that to the breeding pen. He is exactly the type of male to compliment any quality grey breeding program. Such a stunning young male - super heavy bone, outstanding presence, macho head ("Best Head" award winner at the 2011 International Alpaca Odyssey!) and a calm disposition. Get into his silky, fine, bright, LONG fiber and it melts away to the touch. Its one of those fleeces that just gets better with age. Iron is sired by the incomparable grey herdsire, Aussie .38 Special. As he ages, .38 Special just keeps getting better. He is a two-time Judges' Choice winner, including Judges' Choice Fleece at the 2010 AOBA Nationals (4th fleece!).

Congratulations to Sue & Bob Evon and Brenda & Ron Berg of Alpacas of NH on the purchase of Bellatrix and her awesome daughter, American Chrome. Bellatrix is the fourth awesome daughter of our foundation dam, Grace. Grace has produced the best on our farm, with four true blacks and three silver greys. Her kids are consistently in the front row in the show ring, with many firsts, and color championships to their credit. Bellatrix has a big job ahead of her to keep up with her older siblings. Her sire, Xanadu After Hours, has been quietly producing some awesome kids the last couple of years, and because we've sold all the girls that we've bred to him, we've had to watch his kids grow up in other breeders fields. Grace made us proud yet again, and Bellatrix is her '08 contribution to our cria crop. Because of the consistent quality of Grace's kids, we've named them all after stars or constellations, and Bellatrix follows suit. She is a stylish young female with the signature compact frame, and stunning head that is typical of After Hours kids. Her fleece is exceedingly bright, and crimpy with a buttery handle consistent with Grace's kids. The fleeces from this dam line are some of the first to be snapped up by hand spinners. This girl was a standout in the show ring. Judge Amy Bliss Miller placed her first in conformation at the Alpaca Affaire Composite show, saying that she was happy to see this girl's fleece score come in at the top of the class as well, cementing her first place finish in the class of combined blacks and browns. She went on to grab the color Championship as well. She just got better with maturity placing 2nd and Reserve Color Champion at Alpaca Showcase under Australian black huacaya breeder, Peter Kennedy. She is now firmly settled in our foundation girl lineup, and produced an awesome silver grey male out of her breeding to Bisturi. Bella produced a stunning silver grey male out of her breeding to Lanark's Silver Charm for 2012. Her 2014 contribution is a beautiful silver grey female, American Chrome.

Congratulations to our friend Annie Hunt of Willow Wind Farm, for acquiring a share of Avatar. Please contact Annie about Avatar breedings. We are thrilled with Avatar's newest creations - including Delphi's Avella - The 2017 National grey female halter Champion at just over 6 months of age. And congratulations to Avella's new owners, Debbie and Dale Hoerl; Alpacas of Moose Creek Ranch! Many more Avatar crias will be arriving in 2018. Avatar has beautiful crimpy, dense, and fine fleece, but what separates him from other outstanding herd sires, is his phenomenal handle - due to both exceptional uniformity, and very bright, low scale fiber. Cameron Holt, AOBA Senior Judge Trainer and world wide fiber expert, gave the following scores to Avatar's fleece: Fineness: 15 out of 15 ; Handle: 5 out of 5 ; Uniformity of micron: 7 out of 8 ; Crimp: 8.5 out of 10 ; Density: 3 out of 5 ; Brightness: 8 out of 10 ; Lack of medullation: 8 out of 10. His daughter Delphi's Lailah won Color Champion Grey Female Fleece at the 2012 Nationals. His son Delphi's Rama won a Blue Ribbon at the 2012 National Fleece Show, (and then brown Color Champion at the Tenessee Waltz Fleece Show). These two Avatar kids insured Delphi's win of the 2012 Classic Cup for fleece, at the 2012 Nationals. Another standout offspring is Kanaka - an 8X Champion with 1% EPD's in both SD and >30; and 2% EPD's in fineness. While we don't participate in the program, we agree Avatar's son Kanaka's EPD stats do reflect his sire's strong suits. Avatar's many other crias now include Six AOBA National Halter or Fleece Champions, several Futurity Champions, and many many many Multi-Champion and Blue Ribbon show winners, in addition to the winners of many Special Awards, such as the Best Brightness award at the National Fleece Show - the first time this award has been awarded to a grey. Please enjoy viewing some of his lovely crias and their fleeces, shown below. Description

Do you ever see that one girl and you just have to have her? For me - that was Ginger. I kept looking and looking at this pretty female and finally had to snatch her up! She is related to a bunch of breeding potential I already had here but there was just something about her. Elite gray genetics hidden in an elite fleece! A super solid frame with solid bone. And lots and lots of staple on this girl. Sweet personality and super mellow - like a zen garden But is she grey? Despite it not being super obvious - she has all the color traits of a tuxedo and we think that is the direction to take Ginger. Her show career color checked her in everything from beige to light fawn to lights. Very competitive classes. Ginger is a full sister to AMERICAN CHROME, a beautiful silver gray owned by Alpacas of NH. Sired by Neversummers' American Iron, an Aussie .38 Special son, out of STONYRIDGE BELLATRIX, an absolutely gorgeous true black female in her own right. Ginger was shorn for the second time here at Willow Wind and she has that strong character in her fleece that is the legacy of 38 Special. It was just falling off her in waves. Really lovely! Beautiful bundles. Tight crimp. Beautiful Brightness. Her fleece character made a huge jump in improvement from year 1 to year 2 (And it was splendid in year 1!) so we are very pleased with her development. Im very glad to have her. Ginger Snap has been bred to AVATAR! for a 2018 cria and we are anxiously waiting. What a stellar combination. And a proven one. Ginger's cria is a girl! And she looks to be a solid rose grey. Her fleece is OH SO SOFT and loooooong staple. Bright and incredible character (Go AVATAR!). Little Molly is heading to her first show; GWAS 2019. Ginger is bred to deliver a cria in August of 2019. A wild card breeding done to a wildly spooted harlequin male, Apache Gentleman owned by Marylin Esteb and Rare Gem Alpacas. A surprise is in order! And she had Willow Wind Will Cooter - Gorgeous harley male! Willy is set and ready to begin some breeding in 2024. Gorgeous guy. Ginger gave birth to a very typey harlequinn male in August of 2019. This little guy, Will Cooter (Willy), has bundles of crimpy fiber. Quintessential cutie pie. Willy has turned completely slate grey by his 5th month and the fiber is just like Mommas - loooooong staple, well defined crimp and epic coverage. I had a feeling Ginger would throw a gorgeous harlequinn when bred to harlequinn - and SHE DID!!! Ginger is bred to Man of Mystery for a 2023 cria. CANNOT WAIT! And again - she did not disappoint. No spots on the little (Big) man but he shines like a beacon. Brightness galore on a solid frame. Ginger is bred to Lakota (I KNOW!!!) for 2024. :) Fleece Stats 2016: AFD: 20.7 SD: 4.1 CV: 19.8 >30: 2.2
