Alpaca Palace's Houdini

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)White
AOA# 31844796DOB: 5/22/200816 yrs
Thank you Russ and Brenda Wyler of Crossed Arrows Alpacas located in Velma, Oklahoma for purchasing 1/2 interest in Alpaca Palace's Houdini! We are excited about our new partnership! Houdini will be settling females in Oklahoma leaving PA in October returning in April to Butler, PA. WHOA! Our Bred and Born Treasure, Alpaca Place Houdini's 1/2 interest being offered! What an opportunity to get in on THE PREPOTENT Sire that throws COLOR and gets all the credit for Alpaca Palace's existance!!! What else were we to do with an incredible male like this? He has produced multiple Champions and numerous ribbon winners. His offspring are cookie cutter consistent. He passes on his extreme brightness, fineness, high frequency character, consistency throughout the fleece and his Extreme DENSITY and BRIGHTNESS. Houdini produces color about 70% of the time when bred to color. Add that to the fact that Houdini also greatly improves conformation which gives the advantage of breeding to an average quality female his ability to leap generations in quality of his offspring. His crias have beautiful heads, square frames, straight legs and great width of chest and rump. When comparing his offspring's fleeces, they are very easy to identify because of their brightness, fineness, consistent character and style. His crias are very vibrant and quick to stand and nurse at birth. They are smart and easy to train. His daughters are GREAT moms, easy birthers with lots of milk and wonderful mothering instincts. As breeders, this is what we all wish for in breeding seed stock foundation females and in the care of their young and their young's ability to thrive. Let's show some data: Houdini's skin biopsy results, prepared by C. Norman Evans, DVM, at 4.5 years of age are as follows: "His 15x scan shows fiber clusters mostly uniform in shape and placement but irregular in size. Houdini's true density is 82.93 follicles SQ MM of skin while 25 fiber clusters show an average S/P of 10.2 to 1. He shows level 3 of 4 glands which should relate to fiber brightness and appears to be a genetic trait passed from the male to their offspring. Less that 10% of Houdini's secondary fibers show medullation which should relate to excellent handle. 100 secondary fibers average 21.3 microns while 50 primary fivers average only 26.1 microns for a variation of only 4.8 microns. Houdini's fiber stats place him in the top 1% of huacaya males that I have tested." Proudly Co-ownded with Crossed Arrows Alpacas Check out Houdini's outstanding pedigree including well known great producers on his top side like Bravado, Bueno, Hemingway and on the bottom in color like Maverick and Matador!

LAAF Paladin's Belledin

HuacayaBred (Female)White
AOA# 31900782DOB: 9/26/201014 yrs
LAAF Paladin's Belledin is one of the first Paladin east coast progeny--and also one of his best. Thank you Mike and Sarah for offering one of your finest foundation females for us to add to enhance our breeding program. Belledin is white but carries alot of color in her background. Perfect conformation, medium bone and sturdy frame. Great coverage, with incredible crimp well into her lower legs. Her crimp is very consistent and is evident without even opening her fleece, extending to the very tip of the fiber. Belledin is very dense. She has taken Reserve Champion twice and in the shows where she placed fourth, both times the judges remarked that any of the top four could have been in first. Belledin's dam, LA Belleza placed at the top of her classes in very competitive Level V shows has maintained one of our best fleeces out of Long Acre Alpaca Farm's foundation females. Belledin's sire, Paladin, is an impressive male with a fantastic genetic background. Paladin has one of the densest fleeces and his crimp curvature is possibly one of several highest ever recorded by fiber analysis.

Description

Really handsome male! If you are at all familiar with Alpaca Palace's Houdini you know that his kids are quite impressive. Prince George was no exception. Check out his juvi/yearling show stats. He was proudly placed in an auction and SOLD as a junior herdsire. Impressive price point too! We all know that folks sometime really enjoy themselves at auctions. New owner was really excited and within a few weeks had started a little farm and added 3 other young males as companions. The 4 males lived comfortably on a 4 acre lakeside pasture. Fast forward a few years. I get a phone call requesting some assistance. I'm rather intrigued and even more excited when I see the fleece. It's important for me to understand 'why' someone calls me so I ask lots of questions, lots. This male was purchased for the gentleman's young daughter who was smitten with alpacas...at the time. Pretty good start up choice! After the initial purchase and completion of setting up the little farm the excitement wore off. THE MALE WAS NEVER SHOW AGAIN?! THE MALE WAS NEVER USED FOR BREEDING?! HE IS 4 YEARS OLD! ACK! He and his friends hit the road so that Prince George could attempt to prove himself. We should know soon if his 1st female is settled. Prince George is also thinking that it would be great to hit a show or too as well.
