Description

What does one say about a girl like Elke? Elke is the star of the paddock wherever she lives, and it isn't because she's an appaloosa. It's because of her personality. Elke is an own daughter of 6Peruvian Century, a very little-used harlequin herdsire who was imported in-utero. Century's dam, 6Peruvian Bruna, is one of the twenty-odd original imports to bring the harlequin gene into the United States. She was a cornerstone to the Magical Farms' herd, with dozens of decedents to her credit -- a very good number of them champions and champion-producers, and a very good number of them harlequin. Elke herself inherited the appaloosa spotting of her sire. While she missed out on the full-on transformation to harlequin grey, she is clearly capable of producing it, as her daughter, Maxine -- a very dark silver harlequin -- is the reason we brought her here in the first place. The only reason that Elke is for sale for this price is simply that she is extremely stretchy in build, while our farm is breeding for compact and square. (She was purchased in a package with her harlequin daughter.) That said, her conformation is spot-on -- straight lines all around -- and she has very good bone for her frame style. Her fleece exhibits exceptional retained fineness; at age 12, she is still extremely fine and uniform, and her excellent brightness rounds things out to produce an excellent hand. At age 12, she is still extremely soft. At the beginning of this write-up, I mentioned her temperament, and a description of Elke would not be complete without elaborating on this. Elke loves people, specifically men, and, when open, she will cush at the feet of any male human who enters her paddock. She is not pushy, and it is totally endearing and, in fact, quite hilarious. She isn't mean to women, and she seems to enjoy their company, but she definitely knows what gender people are. She's a different character when bred ... As most females are. So, here is an opportunity to acquire a female appaloosa, who is extremely fine, and perfectly conformed -- from a line of potent harlequin-producers -- who has already produced a harlequin herself -- for an amazing price -- simply because her body type does not fit our program. To make things even better, this price includes a breeding to any of our herdsires, and I truly believe that the one who compliments her best is our appaloosa stud, Mr. Butterscotch.
