MHAR Troubador's Midnight Prelude

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)True Black
AOA# 32089813DOB: 2/16/201113 yrs
Knight has been a favorite on our ranch since the day he was born. Our 4-H kids love him! He's been easy to train and has a pleasant personality. He was the second black cria born on our ranch and was a total surprise! Both parents are a dark red/brown. But his sire Troubador has black points that we hadn't considered! His conformation is excellent and his fiber is no slouch either! Knight's true black fiber is very bright, dense and uniform, with great staple length. And his EPDs indicate he will pass those characteristics on. Unlike many black alpacas, his fiber is non-fading, meaning that his fleece will be true black when processed! At age four, he has settled his first females with pregnancies confirmed and due this spring. Unfortunately, our priorities have changed and we won't be using him in our breeding program to the extent we originally thought. So, this is your opportunity to add his genetics to your herd. Buy him now and see what his genetics can do for your herd!

Bred to Snowmass Velvet Legend!

Miss Mayflower - Sale Pending

HuacayaBred (Female)Medium Fawn
AOA# 841728DOB: 8/28/200222 yrs
Miss Mayflower (Miss M) is bred to 17 x Champion RR Kit Carson for a 2018 cria! This is your chance to get in on what is sure to be a stellar cria and an amazing dam's last few years of production at a fraction of it's value! Miss M is a banner winner in her own right with nice fineness, density and uniformity even with age. She is a healthy girl that we expect will easily deliver many more cria in her career. We would love to keep her but need to reduce numbers and she isn't fitting our grey focus. Our loss is your gain! Miss M is an amazing dam! Come to think of it, she's our best stud female. Not only is she an excellent mother that births easily and has plenty of milk, she consistently produces outstanding cria. The four cria she has birthed on our ranch have shown excellent conformation with very dense, fine, uniform fleece. Her 2012 EPDs bear this out: AFD -0.433, %>30 -2.942, MSL +4.133. She has taken high awards at numerous shows including a Reserve Champion at AlpacaMania in 2004. Miss M was bred to Derwydd Peruvian Inti-Sapa for a fall 2013 cria. At 11 years of age, Inti is still a superb alpaca that has had a major impact on Derwydd's breeding program. Check out the gorgeous light fawn male they produced! He's well conformed and his fleece is yummy! We have high hopes for this cria. For her 2015 cria, we bred Miss M to Midnight Prelude, one of our our up and coming true black herdsires. They produced a pretty peachy colored girl (Capuccino) with yummy soft, bright, crimpy fleece! We no longer own Night, so we bred Miss M to Snowmass Velevet Legend for her 2016 Cria. They both have extreme density and overall fleece quality and we expected a dynamite cria. Unfortunately, this Cria was born a bit early/dis-mature and he didn't survive. Too bad as he sported yummy bundles of medium fawn curls! We've bred Miss M to our new herdsire, Kit Carson, in the hope of producing a cria with amazing density and fineness. And Wowza, she birthed a gorgeous modern rose gray girl! Miss M sells with a free breed back to any unrestricted Menagerie Hill Ranch owned Herdsire.

Service Sire: MHAR Blizzard by Justice

Judges Choice - Exquisite Handle!

MHAR Blizzard by Justice

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)White
AOA# 32742312DOB: 6/2/201311 yrs
At birth, we knew he was something special. It was birthing season and there were a lot of cria on the ground... When we saw him our first reaction was ... oh no... because we were breeding for dark colors and Blizzard is obviously white as in WHITE not off white or cream (much less beige) but amazing bright WHITE! None of our whites have ever been this brite WHITE! Even our white herdsire (Ike) or irridescent boy (Persey is more creamy) haven't been this White! Our 4-H kids named him Blizzard and that was an apt name... his fleece had a very fluffy "all over the place" quality to it. But at the same time it was very dense, fine and (most notable) uniform (see first year histogram). It's also very bright! As he matured he's developed an incredible lock structure and handle. At 4 years old it still has a buttery soft feel! This is the fleece everyone wants! If I was breeding white I would want this boy... check out his genetics. On the sire's side you have Skywalker's Justice... a multiple champion winner in light brown. His dam is no slouch either... having won a first place at AOBA in beige 2001. My personal assessment is this... I don't like/want white but I love this fleece! At the 2014 Gold Country Gathering Judge Kathy Klay said "He's the total package!" when awarding him first place (no championship)! She noted his nice soft crimp style & density, and at a little over a year he's well grown with a good solid frame. Most recently, his 3rd fleece spin-off entry won Judges Choice! And his 4th fleece spin-off entry won 1st Place in the adult (D) class (of 8) at the 2017 AOA nationals, this in spite of being very dirty/muddy thanks to our very wet/muddy winter. Check out his picture, there's obviously style there as well. The pix don't tell you but he's also got fleece coverage to the nose and ground, a good indicator of density! And if that's not enough, he sheared almost 10 pounds in his third year! Blizzard is growing up nicely! He's settled his first girls with several pregnancies confirmed and two cria on the ground. We can't wait to see how his cria grow and what else he produces. Until then his breedings are available at an introductory rate. But we're sure that will rise when we see what he's produced!

Description

Capuccino was aptly named by a UCD student that was helping at our farm during National Alpaca Farm Days in 2015. Visitors loved getting to know her sweet disposition and have their pictures taken. We love cappuccinos soft, bright, dense, crimpy fleece. She has a great presence in the show ring and with the public. She was shown at the 2016 California Classic where she took 3rd in Walking Fleece and 5th in halter. In the halter class the judge noted her exceptional fineness. For her first cria, we've bred Capuccino to our Reserve Champion herdsire Silver Samovar. Unfortunately she slipped the pregnancy and we will be rebreeding her in the fall. This is your opportunity to choose the sire. Otherwise we are planning to breed her to Blizzard, our white sire with amazing fleece stats and character. Capuccino sells with a free breedback to any Menagerie Hill Ranch owned unrestricted herdsire.
