Victorian Gold has many desirable traits that benefit you. His fiber maintained its fineness and handle as he matured. His cria fleece was amazing -- with a high amplitude crimp, intense luster, good density, long staple length, and beautiful body coverage. Buttery soft with a warm shine and long staple as a yearling, his fleece continued to be a length and fineness that allowed us to use it for next-to-skin roving production well into his maturity. Tory, as we call him, has a pedigree that couples his dam's Snowmass color program heritage with a solid Perurvian presence, including the fiber and color qualities inherited from his Pperuvian Pluro and Pperuvian Victor lineage. His dam Snowmass Victorian Glow is an alpaca with 'staying power' in fleece characteristics, and her Snowmass bloodlines definitely contributed to his amazing fiber. Familially, his brothers from his birth farm, 'Spanish Peaks Alpha Centauri' and 'Banderas,' were show-winning males that produced crias which continued to have outstanding fleece. In addition to the fine density that Tory showed he could pass to his crias, he demonstrated also that he could push colors to his crias. His first cria, born in 2009, is a light fawn, crimpy, dense male out of our blue ribbon white girl Tiramisu. With coverage down to his toes, G.O. presented his soft & bright fiber well. Due to an injury as a cria, G.O. never had the opportunity to be shown in the ring. Tory's second cria in 2009 was a beautiful black girl out of dark brown dam, which we called AutumnSun's Jet-Black Pearl. She is fine, very bright, and soft with good crimp. True black for the first 3 years, she is now an even DSG across her blanket. She is currently in our foundation having produced our fantastic rose grey females Puzzle and Bliss and her 2016 LRG girl. In 2010, Tory had a modern MRG male out of a MB dam. He is a soft, gentle, cute male with his teddy bear face! In 2011, Tory was the sire of a classic MRG girl out of a DSG dam; Spice shows the soft fiber that Tory passes on! In 2012, Tory had a TB boy from a TB dam. This boy was sweet and cute, with a teddy coverage on his head and legs, and very fine & shiny fiber. We lost him to a tragic freak accident as a weanling and we are sure he would have been a beautiful male, a black "Tory" in looks and fiber. Reference listing as we have retired Tory from breeding.

Tira was one of the original gems of our herd, refined and elegant but tough enough to be an awesome mom! You could not refute the inner brightness and shine of her healthy fiber that imparted excellent handle to this day. Her fiber length was great and her density awesome -- where other farms often asked if she had been sheared early for more than one year of growth! This density impressed the judges in the show ring. Mike Safley really liked our girl at the 2006 GWAS. She was the first (he touched her on the way in) and most touched alpaca in the class. He could not take his eyes off her -- and why not, she was eye-catching! In his judge's comments, he said that she would be an excellent foundation female and to make sure to find her the right male! It's nice to know that one of the greatest alpaca 'founders' agrees with us! Tira's first cria was born at an impressive +21 lbs., and this robust cria was up immediately and nursing. That's the kind of crias Tira has. When bred to whites and lights Tira has produced whites, but when bred to color Tira has produced color in her crias. Her first cria Kimberly-Sue was so fine and shiny that she caught the eye of an outside farm as juvenile and moved to their program. Her second cria was our lovely Song, who has gone on herself to produce fantastic crias in our herd. In addition, she has produced three males of color - a light fawn, a medium fawn and now a dark brown cria with a handsome face. We do love what Song is producing that we recommend breeding Tira back to Patriot for her next cria. Tira is a mom with dense, well handled fleece that she passed onto her healthy, beautiful, and fast growing crias. We have decided to give Tira a break and retire her.

Description

G.O. is a "golden opportunity' if you are interested in a great fiber male. His fiber is a bright, beige-white color with excellent staple, soft handle, and shine to it. His fiber is the perfect color for blending with darker colors for a nice heather that is not starkly different, and will overdye still for a bright color. He has a good crimp at about 5-6 per inch and is above average in density. He puts out quite a bit of fiber! G.O. is an easy-going male that gets along great with weanlings, even in his adult age. He gets along well with other males, not fighting or getting picked on either. He is easy going and easy care. Medical Note: He was injured when a few weeks old, when he was accidentally rolled over by another alpaca. A few days later, though his bruises healed and he had no lasting injury to his body, his left eye clouded over. After seeing an veterinary opthamologist and having his eye ultrasounded, we found out the good and bad news. Good news, he has no congenital defects in his eyes. Bad news, the trauma had caused his retina to detach and he is blind in this left eye. Otherwise physically well, he walks and interacts normally -- not jumpy or skittish/shy in nature. Many never know that he cannot see out of his left eye from his behavior and movements. He is a sweet boy, easy to keep! Congratulations to Tammy and Steven Smith!
