Snowmass Matrix Madness

His crias are here and winning big in the ring with many Championships and ribbons. We could not be happier or more excited about them. Both our own, those of our clients and our co-owner Snowmass Alpacas. If you had to describe them in one word...well you couldn't. But you can say that they are very true to type in head and body style. Supremely fine and shiny. Ultra bright and very dense. I know we tend to over use all those descriptors, but we invite you to take a look at his colorful crias and see for yourself. So far he seems to be throwing the color of the dam and adding tremendous fleece density, bone size, fleece coverage, brightness, and of course fineness. Julie Skinner at Snowmass tells us that her Madness cria was simply dripping with fleece from birth and was incredibly bright and fine. She said he was the quality that she would have expected from her top white herdsires! When you see Madness in person, you are blown away by his good looks, bone, body, and coverage. But he's more than just good looks on the outside. One prominent AOBA judge asked us for Madness' age and exclaimed "Holy *&@%" when we told him. He told us that he was finer in handle than most juveniles. We're in awe every time we part his fleece. He is incredibly consistent, (see the judges comments in the awards section). We are so grateful and appreciative that every judge we have shown him under has awarded him a Color Championship and have raved about his tremendous consistency. He is incredibly dense and fine and carries his wonderful fleece quality all throughout his body, down his legs, and up his neck to his topknot. The judges comments on him have been extremely flattering. We are very excited to have a partnership in this fabulous herdsire with Don and Julie Skinner at Snowmass Alpacas. We were so devastated when we lost our wonderful herdsire Snowmass Porteus and so grateful that they invited us to co-own the male that they themselves kept in order to replace Porteus on their own ranch as well as to continue on Matrix's genetics in dark color. We had great fun showing him this past year. We got to take home a championship in every single show we took him to. We feel so proud of him and hope you don't mind us bragging a bit. We invite you to visit and take a look at this guy, we're just "mad" about him ;)

Dam: Snowmass Midnight's Dawn

Breathtaking! Top Producer

Snowmass Midnight's Dawn

HuacayaBred (Female)Dark Fawn
AOA# 30541627DOB: 11/2/200519 yrs
At 4 years old, Dawn's fleece still sorts as a Grade #2! This is more important that any ribbon she could ever win. Born from 2 solid black as night parents, she is like the dawn. Taking from them their Peruvian heritage, but more importantly their awesome fleece genetics. Her fine handling dark fawn full fleece coverage hides her solid black toe nails. It has a brilliant shine and the density is really special. Her deep black eyes and eye liner are only a hint to her dark color genetics. Her dam 5Peruvian Condori was one of Snowmass' top selections in the '97 Peruvian import. Snowmass Alpacas describes her as being AS SUPERIOR AS NOVA HIMSELF. What a compliment! She has consistently produced alpacas that can compete and win at top level competitions under top level judges. For a True Black to be able to produce a wide range of colors that can compete at the top level no matter the color is exceptional. Her sire, Snowmass Midnight Magic is considered by Snowmass as a very Elite fleeced black male. "He is the male who’s fleece will create fine fashion garments that are as soft as the finest cashmere. This comes from his sire Snowmass Matadors Magic who is a true asset to vicuna fineness in a well advanced alpaca and his Dam 5Peruvian Ajoyani purchased for her own ultra fine black fleece. There is not an alpaca in Midnight Magic’s pedigree that is not on our Elite fleece list. He has produced the most consistent set of black cria we have ever experienced. Luster beyond our dreams with excellent staple length and very even high frequency well defined crimp that just does not stop. In his first and only showing he took a first place and was in the first place line with Snowmass Nova and took Reserve Champion. He has been home breeding ever since." Dawn is one of our very best foundation girls. Porteus will not only enhance her already stunning fleece, but add his large bone structure and beautiful head style.

Service Sire: Snowmass Lunar Challenger

17.0 3rd Yr. Micron producing Champ cria

Snowmass Lunar Challenger

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Brown
AOA# 30701946DOB: 8/3/200816 yrs
We're so excited to announce that his first cria on the ground was finally old enough to show this season and has been to two shows where he won 2 first place ribbons and a Championship. It makes us feel gret because it affirmed what we were counting on Challenger to do. We'll be adding more girls to his dance card! Wow wow wow...17.0 Microns at 3 years old, Dark Brown AND breeding. If you're looking for an all around gorgeus guy, he's it! He is everything we'd hoped for. He's dense, has a luxurious handle, is wonderfully shiny and has consistent crimp style. He doesn't exhibit any guard hair(primaries)extending beyond the blanket. He's the most incredibly sweet and smart alpaca. He's just a joy to be around. Which makes the fact that he's simply stunning, really exciting! Ron picked out his dam at the Snowmass aution because she was not only an outstanding award winner in both the black halter and fleece categories, but she was bred to one of the most fabulous fawn males around. Snowmass Royal Challanger. Any of you who know Ron, also know that it's rare from him to put his foot down and insist on a dam. But he really wanted us to add Snowmass Morning Moon to our herd and I'm so glad he did! Her Avg. Micron at 4 years old was 20.4 (not bad for a black production dam). Royal Challanger's, (Snowmass Lunar Challanger's sire), crias have been winning big. His 2008 histogram at 6 yrs old is 20.9 4.4 21.1 3.4 49.4. He was the 2004 Futurity Color Champion. Royal Challanger is the son of Snowmass Royal Rose, (dad to XXXtreme and G-Dad to Porteus). But just as exciting is Royal Challanger's dam who we admired from the first moment we saw her. PPPeruvian Edelweis is a grand dam producer of many champions. Royal Challanger consistently passes on his superior phenotype and fleece attributes to his offspring: superb conformation, awesome coverage, fineness, high frequency style crimp, long staple length and beautiful brightness. Take a peak at his listing and you'll see where our guy gets his looks. :) Challenger's crias exhibit supreme shine and a silky dense handle. He throws that typy head style that we love. If you need to improve fleece coverage, head style, consistency, density, secondary to primary ratio, and fineness, while preserving color...Challenger might just be your man. His most recent son just won 1st Place at TXOLAN 2015 in the juvi brown class. This guy definitely needs more crias on the ground!!
