Optimus Prime, or "Prime" around the farm, is a young male that has moved to the top of our "go to" breeding males. We knew when we matched our Champion dam Amalaya to Futurity/AOBA/IAO Champion PC Running Late the outcome could be something very special. This pairing did not disappoint when we received an ultra-fine, dense, light fawn male. Prime is a compact male with a beautiful, high energy fleece. He has a high frequency, high amplitude crimp that is carried from his top knot down to his legs. When his fleece is opened up it reveals organized bundling and an excellent staple length at over 4". His first years histogram speaks for itself and his second years is equally as impressive. His fleece continues to maintain elite fineness, consistency of micron and character throughout the entire blanket, along with above average density. His EPD stats have him ranked : Top 2% for AFD and SF Top 4% for SDAFD He was only shown once in 2012. As the youngest male in the group, he placed a respectable 5th out of 10 alpacas in the class. Judge Wade Gease praised his level of fineness, consistency of character and brightness throughout the fleece, but he was small and stated he needed to mature. By the end of summer he had gained over 20lbs and caught up with the other juvenile males. Primes babies are hitting the ground with gusto this year. He has been bred to everything from white to grey and colors in between. He is letting the dams color come through every time! Every one of his babies have excellent conformation eye popping shine to the fleece and lots of curls.

Accoyo America Morning Star

AOA# 31097314DOB: 6/24/200717 yrs
Morning Star is a Full Accoyo daughter of Accoyo America Ulysses. Through her dam, 6P Accoyo Sophia, she has inherited an incredible fleece profile with a standard deviation of 2.6 microns, and exqusite bundling that parts cleanly on inspection. She has bright, fine-crimped fleece with a spinning fineness of 15.2 microns, typical of the acclaimed B-line Accoyos. Morning Star is a proven gal, with a good maternal instinct. She had 2 excellent crias for Gem State Alpacas. She produced a multi-champion male for us, and we plan to breed her this fall to Accoyo America Hawkeye. Morning Star is at our Marin County farm, in the North San Francisco Bay area.

Description

Prime Starrr, aka "Rocky", is a compact male with a correct, sturdy, proud conformation, and knock-out fleece. Take a look at his 2017 histogram: at 2 1/2 years of age his AFD is 20, spin fineness 19.3, >30 is only 1.3%, and STAPLE LENGTH is 102.6! The AOA fleece judge commented on this being a BIG fleece--Jude didn't know that he's actually a compact guy. Prime Starrr has beautiful definition of bundles with long staple length, tight and uniform crimp, and a bright fine fleece rounds out the picture. He also has an excellent bite. Even his leg and neck fleece get sent to the mill for yarn--they are better than most others' prime fleeces! (Note that because of his heavy fleece, he would need precautions taken if he goes to a farm where summers are hot and/or humid. At minimum, he might need to have his belly shorn or perhaps be shorn twice a year.) None of this should surprise--his dam, Accoyo America Morning Star is a full-Accoyo Ullysses daughter. When I bought her at the 2009 Parade of Champions, Greg Mecklum pointed out to me that Morning Star had the best uniformity scores on histogram of any alpaca in their catalogue! Rocky's sire, Gem State's Optimus Prime, is a son of the acclaimed PC Running Late--a fawn Accoyo Titan son known for long staple length, fineness, and bright fleece. Despite his compact size, Rocky likes to take the lead in a group of males. I don't think I've ever seen another male try to dominate him. He is calm and easy to handle, with a proud presence wherever he goes. Rocky would make an excellent herdsire for a high quality huacaya breeding program--he can definitely improve the quality of most females. We have bred him to our top huacaya girl--a Matrix daughter. They both have fineness, uniformity of micron, density, and great crimp, but Prime Starrr adds his fantastic staple length--and his perfect bite is a great asset. Way to go, Rocky! He has his first ultrasound-proven pregnancy!! Due in December, 2018.
