We have Snowmass Alpacas to thank for the exceptional pedigree of this extraordinary young herdsire. His rich brown fiber has a long staple length with "vicuna fineness and uniformity, yet added crimp and density." He is strong, stout, and perfect in his balance and conformation. Wow, dark color, long staple length, fiber fineness, density, and strong bone all in one package! No wonder that Crimson was described by Julie Skinner as their "Number ONE 2002 Andean Bronze son". The Great Midwest Alpaca Fest was our only opportunity to show Crimson before he went into service, and we were delighted with the result! Before awarding him the blue ribbon and Reserve Color Champion, Judge Kristin Buhrmann described his fiber as "uniformly fine, bright, and dense." We look forward to the superior fiber quality we expect him to bring to our colored breeding program. UPDATE: Exciting news! Crimson's is producing GREY, ROSE-GREY, and BLACK! Ask about Avalon Farm's Special Program of DISCOUNTED "CUSTOMER" AND "PRIORITY" STUD FEES!. Our breeding contract includes: 60 DAYS FREE BOARD for dam and the cria by her side AND a 30 DAY LIVE CRIA GUARANTEE. "Drive-By" and Mobile breedings may be possible by special arrangement...call or email for details.

RETIRING 2009

PPPeruvian Sonoma 5042

HuacayaBred (Female)Beige
AOA# 139139DOB: 1/1/1993
Sonoma is one of our original foundation females and has been a cornerstone of our breeding program. She was part of the 1995 importation from Peru, originating from the Sollocoto Region. The first cria she produced for us was Aristocrat, our premier fawn herdsire by Accoyo Royal Fawn. What a way to get started! Although Sonoma is now older, she still has that "regal" look to her. Her once extremely dense, crimpy, fine fiber took 1st place at the 1997 Michigan International Alpaca Fest Fleece Show. And, in spite of being a consistent producer of exceptional crias, her fiber would still class in Peru as "Superfine"! Now THAT is a Foundation Female! She has been an excellent mom with abundant milk, producing crias that have had very strong growth patterns. We consider Sonoma to be one of Avalon Farm's very best foundation alpacas. In 2005 she gave us her third daughter in a row, Avalon's Peruvian Saleena...this time from Peruvian Lancaster. Two more daughters followed in 2006 and 2007. And, this year we were blessed with a fabulous herdsire quality male by our white champion, Avalon's Peruvian Impresario. Although we had considered retiring Sonoma due to her age, we are so impressed with this Impresario son that we have decided to go for a repeat...maybe this time a fabulous daughter! Sonoma seems to love being a mother, so it's hard to think of retiring her when she can still produce great crias. No matter what, she has a home here at Avalon Farm as long as she needs one.

Description

Sabrina is the daughter of our AFA Foundation Female, PPPeruvian Sonoma, who is the dam of our multiple Get of Sire winner, AFA Royal Peruvian Aristocrat. Sonoma has given us many wonderful crias over the years, and Sabrina is no exception. She has lovely, bright, crimpy fiber from nose to toes on a lovely compact frame. As a cria, she was independent from the "get-go", entertaining herself by running and stolting all alone from one end to the pasture to the other. Then she would dart in and out of the other crias until they joined her---a born leader! Our AFA Herdsire, Snowmass King Crimson, contributed his deep color, brightness, and a long staple length, making Sabrina a lovely complete package! This fall we will be breeding Sabrina for the first time. We plan to breed her to one of our two black Champion herdsires, Lace's Peruvian Black Lance (TB) or Our Peruvian Black Jag (TB). Sabrina is currently co-owned with Tom and Brenda Trzinski and family of Rustic Ridge Alpacas where she lives full time.
