We have Snowmass Alpacas to thank for the exceptional pedigree of this extraordinary young herdsire. His rich brown fiber has a long staple length with "vicuna fineness and uniformity, yet added crimp and density." He is strong, stout, and perfect in his balance and conformation. Wow, dark color, long staple length, fiber fineness, density, and strong bone all in one package! No wonder that Crimson was described by Julie Skinner as their "Number ONE 2002 Andean Bronze son". The Great Midwest Alpaca Fest was our only opportunity to show Crimson before he went into service, and we were delighted with the result! Before awarding him the blue ribbon and Reserve Color Champion, Judge Kristin Buhrmann described his fiber as "uniformly fine, bright, and dense." We look forward to the superior fiber quality we expect him to bring to our colored breeding program. UPDATE: Exciting news! Crimson's is producing GREY, ROSE-GREY, and BLACK! Ask about Avalon Farm's Special Program of DISCOUNTED "CUSTOMER" AND "PRIORITY" STUD FEES!. Our breeding contract includes: 60 DAYS FREE BOARD for dam and the cria by her side AND a 30 DAY LIVE CRIA GUARANTEE. ........... RETIRED-REFERENCE ONLY........... Anjelica is one of our original foundation females from the Sollocata Region of Peru. We selected her from the 1995 Peruvian importation in large part for her handsome head and lovely 19 micron AFD fawn colored fleece (any color other than white was rare during those early Peruvian importations!) At eleven years old her fiber still averaged 24.4 microns! Anjelica has given us many wonderful crias. She has been a dependable and attentive mother to each one. Her crias have been nice, typey alpacas with excellent conformation and fine, dense fleeces with high frequency crimp. Her 2009 cria, Avalon's Peruvian Rico, will probably be her last. We have decided to allow some of our older females who have produced so well for us over the past 14 years to live out the rest of their lives here with us in retirement. Thank you, Anjelica, for the beautiful crias you have given us.

UPDATE: Rio's first crias are here and look great! The genetic potential of this full Peruvian male is awesome! He brings together the strengths of the Accoyo(Caligula and Leon) and Cconchatanca bloodlines. Both his dam and his sire have elite white fiber that has retained fineness as they have matured. At the fourth shearing his sire's histogam was AFD=18.3 SD=3.6 CV=19.7% CF=99.7% >30=0.3%!!!! As if that wasn't enough, Rio has a terrific dam, too. Phyllis is one of our outstanding foundation females, representing the awesome result of an Accoyo/Cconchatanca match. She has given us two exceptional crias: Taffeta (now one of our foundation females) and Rio...2 for 2! Phyllis's histogram for her 8th shearing was an outstanding AFD=20.4 SD=4.2 CV=20.3% CF=97.3% >30=2.7%!!!! Talk about maintaining fiber excellence! And, like Montezuma, she offers fineness without sacrificing density. How can Rio not be great? Rio has grown into the phenotypically ideal male that his sire represents (see photo). Rio has his sire's excellent conformation and balance, complete fiber coverage, and handsome head. His dense fiber is bright, crimpy, fine, and consistent with excellent staple length. And, the good news is that he just continues to get better every day, exhibiting the "type", presence, and style we want in a herdsire. At the IAOBA Show, Diane Timmerman called him "The complete package!" WOW! Description

A beautiful, dark fawn daughter from our brown herdsire, Snowmass King Crimson. Ginger Snap got off to a challenging start when she was born a little early. However, she has caught up. She is a strong, well grown yearling. Ginger Snap's dam is one of our foundation females, an imported fawn Peruvian from the Sollacata region. Even at age 10, her fiber remained at under 25 microns. We offer Ginger Snap with her first breeding to any AFA herdsire when she is old enough to be bred in this summer. EVERY FEMALE purchased from Avalon Farm is eligible for reduced price breedings to any solely owned AFA herdsire FOR HER BREEDING LIFE, regardless of owner.
