HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Bay Black
AOA# 846259DOB: 5/13/200321 yrs
We are very excited about the future with this outstanding male. Lance is a total package: great presence, handsome head, typey/strong conformation, and beautifully lustrous and crimpy black fiber! Take a look at his impressive histogram! This ultra-fine fleece would be exceptional on a white fleece, let alone a black one! Lance makes available genetics from some of the finest black and grey males in the US today, including Peruvian Silverado and CPeruvian Jaxon. Lance's first crias have hit the ground. Most are darker than the dam and most are TB. They have the crimpy, bright fiber we'd hoped to get. Peruvian Black Lance stands stud for outside breedings at Avalon Farm Alpacas from June through October. Make your reservation(s) now for 2008 Summer and Fall breedings in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula! Ask about Avalon Farm's Special Program of DISCOUNTED "CUSTOMER" AND "PRIORITY" STUD FEES!. Our breeding contract includes: 60 DAYS FREE BOARD for dam and the cria by her side AND a 30 DAY LIVE CRIA GUARANTEE. "Drive-By" and Mobile breedings may be possible by special arrangement...call or email for details.

Avalon's Evening Rhapsody

This beautiful young lady is a real eye catcher. She is covered with fiber from nose to toes on a strong, well conformed frame with big bone. Her lovely fiber has a bold style crimp and long staple length. We are delighted with her. Judge Kristin Buhrmann, at the 2005 Wisconsin Spring Fling, placed her first in her True Black Class and selected her as the Black Reserve Color Champion. In her comments, Judge Buhrmann described Rhapsody as: "the Total Package---great head, strong bone, correct typey frame, excellent coverage, consistent fiber character from front to back---everything you could want from a foundation female". This pretty girl is getting better and better. On October 2, 2006, Rhapsody gave birth to her 1st cria, a handsome TRUE BLACK male, Avalon's Black Jack. We were so pleased with Black Jack that we rebred Rhapsody to Black Lance, our blue ribbon winning, ultra-fine fibered, black male, for another great cria in October, 2008. Unfortunately, we lost her 2008 cria, but are rebreeding Rhapsody this year to our other Black Champion, Our Peruvian Black Jag, for a 2008 cria. Like Rhapsody, Jag has a pedigree full of black and grey. We look forward to seeing the outcome of this exciting match. EVERY FEMALE purchased from Avalon Farm is eligible for reduced price breedings to any solely owned AFA herdsire FOR HER BREEDING LIFE, regardless of owner.

Description

This handsome male is covered from top to bottom, and front to back with bright almost blue black crimpy fiber. He has a very attractive head with full coverage and a great top knot. Excellent conformation, and a typey, well balanced frame complete the picture. We did not show Black Jack as a weanling or yearling as we thought he was a bit on the small side, possibly owing to a slow start. However, at this point we would consider him to be "average" in size, like his sire and dam. This male boasts a pedigree loaded with black genetics. He is eager to begin breeding to bring those black genetics to your farm. For the breeder who wants a true black herdsire with nice fiber and great conformation, this may well be the bargain of the year! Black Jack has gone to several shows as an adult and done well. He is currently priced to sell as we would love to see this handsome boy go to a program where he can show what he can do. However, until he is "snatched up" by some smart buyer, we intend to use him here at Avalon Farm. Therefore, we proudly offer him for breeding at a special 2009 Introductory Fee rate of $800 (see Herdsire listing).
