Avalon's Andiamo
Alpaca, Huacaya, Male | White
AOA #1113150 | DOB: 10/3/2004 (20 yrs)
Sire: Snowmass Andean Dream
White, 807329, Full Peruvian
Snowmass Andean Dream, a full Peruvian, is the product of one of the premier breeding programs in the country. Both his sire (Hemmingway)and his dam (Peruvian Amanda) are prized for their extremely fine fleece and Andy is carrying on the family genetics. Andean Dream was given a blue ribbon by Maggie Krieger at the 2002 Spring Fling because of his fine fleece and excellent bite. In Mike Safley's article: "Macho's: The Father's Lineage..." about the two legends in American breeding history, he named Andy as one of Hemmingway's offspring winning a top ribbon in the 1999 hyper-competitive white classes at the All American Futurity. If you want to add fineness, soft handle, exceptional conformation and world class genetics to your female's offspring, look no further. Let Andean Dream improve your herd and share in the history of his award winning crias. Call for your breeding reservations, financing options and multiple breeding discounts.<--description-->
Dam: ABBA' S Bethany
Dark Fawn, 801578, 1/2 Chilean, 1/2 Peruvian
UPDATE: On June 9th Bethany gave birth to a lovely, light fawn/beige FEMALE cria. As we hoped, the cria seems to have the ultra-soft, fine fleece we expected from this match with our handsome Color Champion AFA Royal Peruvian Satin Charlemagne. Mother and cria doing good. We hope to have pictures on line soon.
Bethany is a large, soft-eyed, 1/2 Peruvian sweetie with a mellow, calm disposition. At almost 8 years of age, her lovely fawn fiber still retains brightness and a soft hand. Bethany has been an attentive mother for all four of her crias...two females and two males! Pictured at right is Bethany's 2002 female cria, Avalon's Kayla (see separate listing).
In 2003, Bethany gave birth to a handsome dark fawn male, Avalon's Yankee Clipper, sired by AFA Royal Peruvian Aristocrat. Clipper was in our spring show string for 2005. A definite Herdsire prospect, Clipper's copper penny bright fiber is soft and crimpy, with a 2004 histogram of AFD=17.9 SD=4.2<--description-->

UPDATE: Breeding - Now being offered For Sale!
You won't believe your senses when you touch this fiber! The Hemingway line is known for producing lovely soft fiber with excellent hand and fineness. So, when we bred Bethany to Andean Dream we were hoping for a cria that would carry on that tradition of fineness...and Andiamo doesn't disappoint! His bright, pure white fiber melts in your hand. Wow!
He has a handsome head, straight conformation, and, of course, that fine, bright, crimpy fiber. Two samplings of his 2005 cria fleece verified that he produced an ultrafine, fabulously soft, fleece. Take a look at his 2005 histograms...AFD = 14.7 on the first sample and 14.4 AFD on the second! The 2007 histogram from his 3rd shearing still shows a fine fleece at 18.5 microns.
Not surprisingly, we had planned to retain partial ownership of Andiamo to use these incredible soft, fine fiber genes in our breeding program. However, we think this nice male has something to offer to a larger population than we can provide. Therefore, we have decided to offer him for sale at a price even a small farm will find attractive! If you are interested in a breeding program to produce ultra fine fiber, call us today to discuss taking this guy home as a gift to your girls.
