Here he is, Aussie Bon Jovi, full brother to Aussie .38 Special and Aussie Guns-N-Roses. For anyone who's been paying attention at all, you already know his brothers are two of the best, most prepotent grey herdsires in the country. These are solid, well proven genetics. Both of Bon Jovi's parents, as well as his siblings and their offspring are known for their elite fleece characteristics. This includes holding their fineness as they age, beautiful consistent crimp over the entire blanket, great density, a lack of noticable guard hair, super brightness and extremely long staples. Bon Jovi has a solid, well proportioned frame, a perfect bite, and a ton of fleece! He sheared a full 12 pounds in 2013 and consistently gives us a 6 pound blanket. His 2014 EPD results have him in the top 1% for fleece length (understatement? He's listed #7 out of 16,828) as well as total fleece weight (29 out of 16,828)! Aussie Bon Jovi comes from a line of animals with a strong and healthy reproductive background. Calypso is a beautiful girl with a nice solid frame and great coverage, super fuzzy everywhere and a very pretty head. She's covered head to toe with fine, and amazingly soft fleece. She has the black coloring of her dam, Leilani, and she carries grey genetics from her champion sire Misty Ridge's Silver Quest. She's been healthy and robust from the start. Born at 16 lbs, she grew to be 99lbs at 6 months old, thanks to her dam's ample milk production and mothering skills. Of course her sire is a solid framed boy with tremendous substance of bone, so I'm sure that helps. As an added bonus, Calypso is one of the sweetest girls around. She will come to greet us with kisses, and has a calm, easy demeanor that's just a joy to be around. This holds true even when she's pregnant, which is a relief, but not a surprise as Calypso's dam is calm and easy going as well. Calypso's first cria, Aukai, had a fantastic histogram at 9 months old: AFD 17.4, SD 3.5, CV 20,1, %>30 0.7. Calypso had an adorable bay black male cria on July 9, 2014. Belafonte weighed 15.8 lbs at birth and gained 35 lbs in his first month. Calypso is a fantastic mom with lots of milk (and a good appetite!). We have bred her now to our multi-champion true black male, Marin's SC Torrefacto. He has a white spot on his nose, and we are thinking this might help Calypso express her grey genetics...or not. It doesn't matter--this will be a terrific cria! Calypso comes with a breeding to any of our herdsires, which can be transferred to any of your other girls. Calypso is at our Marin county farm, in the North San Francisco Bay area.

NO RESERVE AUCTION THIS WEEK ONLY!! If you are one of those discriminating alpaca fanciers who appreciate the "Silkie style" of fleece, you should give our Belafonte serious consideration. Although he was a "Bay Black" in his cria fleece, his second growth is True Black. Everyone who looks at him asks, "He is a huacaya, isn't he?", because his long, draping, bright, well-defined bundles look very much like the locks of a suri who is "locked to the skin". Belafonte's blanket was the first raw fleece I sold this year to the local fiber artists--they always "Ooh and Ahh" over his fleece. Our Belafonte has been a joy to own. An adorable, good-natured ball of black fleece as a cria, he is maturing into a solid framed male with fantastic coverage, and the most amazing long staples of well-defined brignt bundles of black fleece. There really is a Suri-like drape to these bundles because they are so long, bright, silky, and heavy--in 2015 he placed #12 of 19048 (Top 1%) for Staple Length EPD, and top 3% for Fleece Weight EPD. He has a perfect bite and a terrific head shape to boot! Belafonte's bloodlines can't be beat--his sire is full brother to Aussie Guns 'N Roses and Aussie .38 Special. His maternal grandsire is a silver grey champion from the respected Misty Ridge breeding program. His dam is a lovely large black female and a wonderful mother. Belafonte is still an adorable, sweet little guy to us, but we see the emergence of a male of consequence here.
