When he was evaluated by a famous international alpaca consultant we were told, "You need to control the genetics of this one. Don't sell a partial interest to anyone and just lease him out once or twice a year to selected farms." A real compliment - and good advice - but we have quite a stable of white males, so if you want to add some true fineness to your herd you can control access to these genetics yourself. Another wonderful son of Bravado. His dam, Dorsett, has distinguished herself by the finenes of the PRIMARY fibers in the fleeces of her offspring and grandcrias. D'Artagnon had skin biopsies evaluated by both Dr. Norm Evans and Dr. Jim Watts ====Follicles per sq. mm==S/P Ratio= Watts....... 40.1.............. 9.6 Evans....... 49 ...............10.8 Currently D'Artagnon stands at stud with Carrie Hull at Timber Basin Alpacas. Carrie Hull is a Certified Sorter (TM) who has visited countless farms, has seen numerous herdsires, and evaluated hundreds of fleeces. Prior to that, she has over a decade of experience working with one of the top alpaca farms in the country. If Carrie Hull wants to use D'Artagnon on her herd, maybe you should consider using him to D'Artagnon's 2012 EPDs AFD -1.03 0.351 SDAFD -0.391 0.352 SF -1.085 0.358 %F>30 -4.86 0.361 MC 1.703 0.353 SDMC 1.088 0.248 %M -6.176 0.339 MSL 1.371 0.297 FW 0.349 0.195 D'Artagnon has a fantastic pedigree and EPDs. He would be a great herdsire to decrease fiber diameter and increase staple length, at the same time decreasing % fibers over 30 microns and reducing percentage of medullation.

Lucy is the perfect PR personality, friendly and easy to handle. Her fiber has bright, consistent crimp and staple length with a wonderful soft handle. Excellent conformation and bite. Good, sturdy bone structure. Pretty much a fantastic foundation female! She's got some impressive names on her certificate as well. Lucy proved herself to be a very attentive mother. Her first cria, Lucy's Locana, has beautiful bright fine fleece and took a blue ribbon for her second fleece at NSAA's Fiber Fusion NW! Her second cria for us, Phinish, was a color surprise, a fawn out of white parents. His fleece is awesome as well. Lucy was bred to an impressively fleece beige male, Victory's Liberator. She delivered a stunning female cria in October 2015 which we will hold in our foundation since her other two offspring were sold. Lucy is once again available for sale! Not only is she a solid production female, but she's hands down a farm favorite with visitors. Complimentary breeding to any Alpacas from MaRS herdsire is included. If she isn't sold soon, we will be breeding her to either newcomer, Skyline's Peruvian Maestro, or she'll be paired again with Victory's Liberator. The missing 1/8 of her genetic heritage is from New Zealand.

Description

Lucy's Locana, or Lo for short, joined our herd at the age of 2 months. She's a sweet little female with tons of personality and terrific fleece! Lo has impressive staple length with uniform crimp consistent across her fleece. Beautiful brightness and very fine, she's got nice density too! Her bite is correct and she seems to be maturing very nicely. Still too early to be sure, but I would imagine she'll be ready to breed this summer. Although I guess she's technically for sale, we would love to have her stay in on MaRS and become part of our breeding program. I'd love to see her bred to one of our Phobos sons!
