Erika is a beautiful, flawless producing female. She is very square with a nice level topline, perfect straight legs, excellent bite that never needs maintenance and her crias are gorgeous! Erika has been an excellent foundation female. She is very "low maintenance" - never needs toe trimming, maintains her weight easily, is an easy birther, and an attentive mother with plenty of milk. As with many true blacks, Erika needs help with fineness. When bred up to a sire with fine fiber, she passes this along. Her 2011 cria, a dark fawn male, has a 21 AFD with LOADS of crimpy locks. When bred to gray, she tends to throw gray due to her gray genetics. Erika delivered a beautiful medium silver grey/dark silver grey female cria Spring 2013, Crane Creek's Silver Springs. Maxwell is turning out to be a very nice herdsire. He has a beautiful blanket of medium silver gray that fades to light silver gray down the legs to white stockings. He exhibits luxurious fiber characteristics with bundles of very soft, crimpy, and LONG fleece. His histogram came back with an amazing 22.8 AFD, quite low for a silver gray! He settled his first female with a successful breeding at only 15 months, and settled quite a few other females these past few years! His cria exhibit those same amazing fiber characteristics.
