Sire:

2015 Dark Reserve Herd Sire of the Year

GLR Rastamon

SuriHerdsire (Male)True Black
AOA# 31115674DOB: 8/28/200915 yrs
GLR Rastamon is the densest (Follicle Density 68, micron 20.9) blackest, true black that we have ever produced on the ranch. His sire is Shavano, our true black 1/2 Accoyo Black Color Champion. His mother, LCA Jaimica, is a 5Peruvian Silken daughter, one of Snowmass Alpacas very favorite dams, and one of the reasons that we bought Jaimica from Jack and Kelly Armstrong a few years back. This guy is jet black with no tipping, what so ever, and very impressive in comformation and in bone. He stands upright and proud, even as a juvenile and was awarded the Reserve Black Male Color Championship at his first show, at seven months old, at the 2010 AAA Futurity. His first crop of kids produced plenty of Color and Reserve Color Champions and the second crop followed suit. In theory, based on his fiber stats and pedigree, we hoped that he would step up the quality of his offspring to another level from his dad, AAA Futurity 2010 Herd Sire of the Year, Shavano. So far we are more than impressed with his kids and have him bred to more than half of our foundation females for cria in 2014! His offspring in 2015 earned him the title of AAA Futurity Reserve Dark Herd Sire of the Year. GLR Rastamon is closed to outside breedings. Awards Received 2010 AAA Futurity- 1st, true black juvenile males- Reserve Black Male Color Champion 2010 GWAS- 1st, true black juvenile male 2015 AAA Futurity Reserve Dark Herd Sire of the Year

Dam:

Rockstar's Peruvian Paloma

SuriBred (Female)Light Brown
AOA# 20009021DOB: 9/30/200519 yrs
Rockstar's Peruvian Paloma has it all. We purchased her from Mary and Kirk Evans at TPC auction. She is awesome and we are thrilled to have her in our Great Lakes foundation herd. She was shown three times in 2006 and was Color Champion at all three shows ( AAA Futurity, Ohio Buckeye Show & OABA Alpacafest). Her last show before retiring to be shorn and become a mom was the 2007 AAA Futurity, where she won Color Champion, once again. Her first cria was a beautiful rose grey little girl, GLR Picassa, sired by Platinum Marquis bought at the TPC auction by Cindy Harris and Doug Fieg of Alpacas at Windy Hill. GLR Picassa, as a juvenile was 3rd at the 2008 AAA Futurity, 1st and Reserve Grey Female Color Champion at MAPACA 2008, the biggest alpaca show in the nation and 1st and Reserve Grey Female Champion at the 2008 AOBA Nationals in Sandy Utah. Paloma's 2008 cria, GLR Pomona, is a stunning dark brown Synergy daughter, sold to Mike and Janet Wilkins at our Great Lake Classic Sale in 2009. Her 2009 cria is a super greasy, incredibly dense dark copper colored male, with a 15.8 micron count, GLR Picasso, who made his debut at the AAA Futurity and GWAS, at just 6 months old and won Reserve Brown Male Color Champion at both shows. He is co-owned now with Airell and Gretchen Nygaard of Eventyrgaard Alpacas in Sonora, CA. Paloma had another copper colored Shavano son, GLR Pablo in 2010 who was the 2012 Brown Color Champion, now breeding and available for sale. Paloma's Shavano son in 2011, GLR Paulo did well in the show ring in 2012. Her 2013 son GLR Painter, a Rastamon son was purchased by Marty and Mary Raynor and will be standing stud at M and M Alpaca Farm in North Carolina. In 2014 Paloma had a Cinders son GLR Pastor who looks to be turning bay black and coming along nicely. She is bred back to CInders and expecting in September 2015.

Description

GLR Painter is yet another outstanding son produced by one of our very favorite dams on the farm, Rockstar's Peruvian Paloma and sired by GLR Rastamon. Paloma, a multiple Color Champion herself, has produced a long line of successful offspring no matter who we breed her to. This time with GLR Rastamon as the sire, this young male ought to follow in the footsteps of his fellow siblings successes. Luster, density, and lock have been consistent with both Paloma, Rastamon and the Shavano bloodlines so we have high hopes for this young male. Painter is off to a good start placing first in his class at his first show, the 2014 AOA Nationals in Harrisburg , PA. At the 2014 AAA Futurity in Kansas City and at the largest Suri show of 2014, the MAPACA jubilee, he was first again in his juvenile class. This junior herd sire is off to a good start. We are looking forward to seeing how he matures!
