Spanish Peaks Banderas

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Dark Rose Grey
AOA# 20000394DOB: 6/18/200519 yrs
Banderas is retired as a breeder. His info is here for reference. His last cria was a very dense and uniformly fine brown handsome little male - Spyker. Spyker is winning awards with his wonderful fleece! He is currently being offered as a junior herdsire and will likely be ready to breed starting 2024. Banderas is an EPD Top 1%er! His stats are excellent overall, but his EPD in staple length soars. Did you read Ian Watt's article in Alpacas Magazine? YES, length matters! To that end, we are still using this oldie but goodie to cover our females with shorter staple length. His latest cria was born in July 2021. BANDERAS IS A MULTI-CHAMPION THROWING ULTRA FINE CHAMPION OFFSPRING IN A VARIETY OF COLORS. And now we are seeing grand-offspring that are absolutely phenomenal. This has been especially exciting. Banderas offspring HIGHLIGHTS *Banderas daughter, AHarmony's Delta Dawn - RES CHAMPION & 2nd at IAO Cottage Fleece Show 2014 *Banderas daughter, Sweet Pines Dulce de Leche - RES CHAMPION & 2nd at the IAO Cottage Fleece Show 2013 *Banderas son, Banderas' Dasher - COLOR CHAMPION & 1st place at Fiber Fusion 2012 (15/15 for Brightness!) *Banderas son, Sweet Pines Torino - 5x CHAMPION! Torino is a National Fleece Color Champion and has won 2 halter Reserve Championships (Showcase & IAO). Torino's fleece also received Reserve Champion (and 1st place) at the AFCNA Continental Fleece Show (level 4). Judge Wade Gease commented, "Exceptional fineness with hand, crimp, and density. What more could you ask for?" *Banderas has blown us away with the fineness he is throwing. Here is a sample of histograms: AHarmony's Torreya (DRG): AFD 15.4, SD 4.3, CV 27.7, >30 1.1% Sweet Pines Torino (LB): AFD 15.7, SD 2.9, CV 18.4, >30 0.5% AHarmony's Delta Dawn: AFD 16.1, SD 4.0, CV 25.0, >30 0.8% Sweet Pines Lotus (MF): AFD 16.6, SD 3.6, CV 22.0, >30 0.6% Banderas' Dasher (LB): AFD 16.7, SD 3.6, CV 21.8, >30 0.6% While the average microns are impressive, we are so excited about the uniformity: SDs (2.9!) and >30s (0.5%!). This is what makes these fleeces so exceptionally soft. Banderas' HIGHLIGHTS: *unique, gorgeous, rich COLOR *bright, soft, UNIFORM fleece *fantastic character and CRIMP *multiple COLOR CHAMPION *elite GENETICS: dam & sire from Snowmass Breeding Program (VICTOR & PLURO) *PROVEN to throw his excellent conformation & fleece characteristics, along with modern rose grey, black, and brown Banderas' superabundant fleece (7# blanket in 2009) is a dark rosey brown roan. The BEAUTIFUL CRIMP, REMARKABLE LENGTH, BRIGHTNESS, & SILKY SOFTNESS are truly ADVANCED. In 2006 he won 2 COLOR CHAMPIONSHIPS. At GWAS, judge Mike Safley was VERY impressed with his superior fleece qualities and placed him as COLOR CHAMPION right away, noting that it was rare for the darkest animal in a class to win!

Dam: Sweet Pines Camry

Full Peruvian

Sweet Pines Camry

HuacayaOpen (Female)Light Fawn
AOA# 30903593DOB: 7/25/200618 yrs
Camry is now being sold as a non-breeder as we have retired her as a mama. Her sweet personality, soundness, and low maintenance make her ideal for someone just looking for a few good-looking critters to graze their pasture. She would also make a nice auntie to some little ones. Given Camry's age, we would recommend only shearing her every other year.

Service Sire: Rubio's Winter Rocky

Champion! w/grey genetics

Rubio's Winter Rocky

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)White
AOA# 31893855DOB: 8/27/201014 yrs
Rocky is a retired stud. He did a wonderful job for us and is still a respected leader in his little herd of sires. Rocky is a CHAMPION exhibiting ULTRA FINENESS, FANTASTIC BRIGHTNESS, ABUNDANT DENSITY, GORGEOUS CRIMP, UNIFORMITY...BALANCED, ATTRACTIVE, CORRECT CONFORMATION...AND A TRULY PLEASING PERSONALITY. Rocky is out of two top award-winning parents with elite Peruvian bloodlines including VICTOR, BUENO, DON JULIO, EL MOUSTACHIO, and AUGUSTO. His fleece is not just ultrafine, it's also uniform with beautiful crimp alignment, giving it such an incredible handle...exactly what we are all breeding for! And no wonder, given his dam is holding her fineness of 21 microns at 4 yrs old and his blue ribbon sire produced top award-winning offspring. Rocky won LIGHT COLOR CHAMPION at the Fiber Fusion Alpaca Fleece Show 2012 judged under international rules by Ruth Elvestad, who gave him high scores in uniformity on all accounts. Rocky has also placed well at the Northwest Alpaca Showcase in halter. In 2013 he placed 1st as a 2-yr-old, the judge having wonderful things to say about him, complimenting him on every possible trait, including personality. In 2012, he was in a very competitive class of 14 white yearlings and placed 5th. Sires of the males in his class were among the most elite white producers and still Rocky (out of a grey sire!) caught the judge's attention. Rocky has a lot of color in his pedigree and would be great for someone looking to add white quality in a color herd. So far he is throwing his density, crimp, and fineness to really beautiful offspring - 100% females.

Description

Earth Angel is a daughter of multi-champion Spanish Peaks Banderas, who is producing champion offspring. Banderas is a grandson of PPeruvian Victor and his parents are directly from the Snowmass breeding program. His offspring are showing extreme fineness and buttery brightness in a variety of colors (rose grey, black, etc.). They are absolutely stunning. Angel's dam is a wonderful mother, consistently producing well-conformed, strong offspring without any assistance. Her top Peruvian genetics include Peruvian Drambuie, Peruvian Hemingway, and 5Peruvian Dom Alamir. Earth Angel has a lovely, straight, well proportioned, and eye-catching conformation. Her fleece is a beautiful, soft, boldly crimped, uniform dark apricot color, but both her sire and grandsire have modern rose grey fleeces. You can see that she also has a striking black nose, with black nails as well. It will be fun to see what this girl produces! She can be bred to fleece Champions and halter Blue-ribbon winners, Rubio's Winter Rocky or Flare's Incan Nightfire. Another option is Sweet Pines Midnight Ryder, a bay black stud with excellent fineness longevity in his background. He is owned by Sweet Pines Alpacas, who will honor our stud service special with the purchase of any of our females. ALL BREEDINGS TO OUR HERDSIRES ARE 1/2 PRICE WHEN YOU PURCHASE ONE OF OUR FEMALES. Thank you for considering Earth Angel.
