Spanish Peaks Banderas

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Dark Rose Grey
AOA# 20000394DOB: 6/18/200519 yrs
Banderas is retired as a breeder. His info is here for reference. His last cria was a very dense and uniformly fine brown handsome little male - Spyker. Spyker is winning awards with his wonderful fleece! He is currently being offered as a junior herdsire and will likely be ready to breed starting 2024. Banderas is an EPD Top 1%er! His stats are excellent overall, but his EPD in staple length soars. Did you read Ian Watt's article in Alpacas Magazine? YES, length matters! To that end, we are still using this oldie but goodie to cover our females with shorter staple length. His latest cria was born in July 2021. BANDERAS IS A MULTI-CHAMPION THROWING ULTRA FINE CHAMPION OFFSPRING IN A VARIETY OF COLORS. And now we are seeing grand-offspring that are absolutely phenomenal. This has been especially exciting. Banderas offspring HIGHLIGHTS *Banderas daughter, AHarmony's Delta Dawn - RES CHAMPION & 2nd at IAO Cottage Fleece Show 2014 *Banderas daughter, Sweet Pines Dulce de Leche - RES CHAMPION & 2nd at the IAO Cottage Fleece Show 2013 *Banderas son, Banderas' Dasher - COLOR CHAMPION & 1st place at Fiber Fusion 2012 (15/15 for Brightness!) *Banderas son, Sweet Pines Torino - 5x CHAMPION! Torino is a National Fleece Color Champion and has won 2 halter Reserve Championships (Showcase & IAO). Torino's fleece also received Reserve Champion (and 1st place) at the AFCNA Continental Fleece Show (level 4). Judge Wade Gease commented, "Exceptional fineness with hand, crimp, and density. What more could you ask for?" *Banderas has blown us away with the fineness he is throwing. Here is a sample of histograms: AHarmony's Torreya (DRG): AFD 15.4, SD 4.3, CV 27.7, >30 1.1% Sweet Pines Torino (LB): AFD 15.7, SD 2.9, CV 18.4, >30 0.5% AHarmony's Delta Dawn: AFD 16.1, SD 4.0, CV 25.0, >30 0.8% Sweet Pines Lotus (MF): AFD 16.6, SD 3.6, CV 22.0, >30 0.6% Banderas' Dasher (LB): AFD 16.7, SD 3.6, CV 21.8, >30 0.6% While the average microns are impressive, we are so excited about the uniformity: SDs (2.9!) and >30s (0.5%!). This is what makes these fleeces so exceptionally soft. Banderas' HIGHLIGHTS: *unique, gorgeous, rich COLOR *bright, soft, UNIFORM fleece *fantastic character and CRIMP *multiple COLOR CHAMPION *elite GENETICS: dam & sire from Snowmass Breeding Program (VICTOR & PLURO) *PROVEN to throw his excellent conformation & fleece characteristics, along with modern rose grey, black, and brown Banderas' superabundant fleece (7# blanket in 2009) is a dark rosey brown roan. The BEAUTIFUL CRIMP, REMARKABLE LENGTH, BRIGHTNESS, & SILKY SOFTNESS are truly ADVANCED. In 2006 he won 2 COLOR CHAMPIONSHIPS. At GWAS, judge Mike Safley was VERY impressed with his superior fleece qualities and placed him as COLOR CHAMPION right away, noting that it was rare for the darkest animal in a class to win!

Sweet Pines Sequoia

HuacayaOpen (Female)Dark Fawn
AOA# 30457195DOB: 7/26/200519 yrs
Seqouia is a gem. With grandsires Black Magic and El Moustachio (greatgrandsire ROYAL FAWN), along with rich color genetics (true black, brown, dark rose grey), and her own phenomenal fleece (21 microns & 3.9SD at 4 yrs old!). In 2008, Sequoia gave birth to Aspen, a dark silver grey lovely girl with extremely soft fleece and straight conformation. She was then bred to multi-champion Spanish Peaks Banderas and produced Torreya, a wonderful modern rose grey female with great bone structure, long, dense, & silky soft fleece, and a sweet, friendly personality. We couldn't have asked for anything more! In 2010, Sequoia had another gorgeous, strong and healthy girl out of herdsire Snowmass Truly Invincible. Sequoia's 2011 cria out of Spanish Peaks Banderas is also a vigorous fawn girl (that's 100% girls in case you were counting) with wonderful dense and crimpy fleece character and predictably Sequoia's extremely soft handle. She's a beauty. Sequoia is now retired and is being offered here as a fiber pet. She would also be an excellent guardian as she is the first to approach and alarm call at strange dogs, showing no tolerance. She is also a larger alpaca. Best of all, she is still producing a yarn-worthy fleece with Grade 2 fineness (microns in the low 20s). Discounts available for the purchase of 2 or more alpacas. Sequoia is halter and trailer trained.

Description

Dawn is an excellent combination of fleece quality with strong, balanced conformation. She is growing beautifully with fantastic bone substance & structure plus a very attractive head. Her uniform caramel fawn fleece has well-defined STUNNING CRIMP, and amazing HANDLE (16 microns first fleece, 17 microns second fleece!). This is no surprise considering her CHAMPION PARENTS. Sequoia, Dawn's dam, is a fleece color champion and has maintained her fineness over the years with 21 microns at 5 years of age! Her fleece is a delight to shear every year, so we can't help but enter it into shows. Her very low % of guard hair sets her apart and makes for such an exquisite handling fleece. Dawn's sire, Spanish Peaks Banderas, has also won championships for both halter and fleece. His dark brown roan blanket spins up into a gorgeous dark rose grey. What's more impressive than Banderas' own awards over the years is the offspring he is producing. The fiber stats are amazing - as low as 15 microns on dark rose grey (Dawn's full sister, Torreya). And Banderas' son, Sweet Pines Torino, has won Brown Color Champion for his fleece at GWAS and Nationals! Torino is also a 3 time Reserve Champion for both halter and fleece. One judge even said, "What more could you ask for?" So, we know Dawn has fantastic lineage, including well-known Peruvian bloodlines: ROYAL FAWN, BLACK MAGIC, VICTOR, PLURO, EL MOUSTACHIO. We also know that she has so much extreme fineness and color in her background - grey, black, brown, fawn. If you are looking for a female to add spice and top quality to a color breeding program, Dawn is your girl. Thank you for considering this truly high quality female. Her yearling fleece is the finest we've ever had.
