Desiree is a Great Lakes Ranch favorite. She was selected for her fantastic fiber characteristics and true black genetics. She has remarkable luster and lock that is so difficult to find in true black suris. Desiree was awarded Black Female Reserve Color Champion at the 2006 Kentucky Classic. She was bred the first time to our 5 time, White Color Champion, Young Felipe, who is a 3/4 Accoyo Rockstar son, and gave birth to a beautiful dark brown male in 2007. Her 2008 cria, also sired by Young Felipe, is a greasy, dense, true black male, GLR Bacchus, who was third at the 2009 AOBA Nationals as a seven month old and third again at the AAA Futurity as a yearling. Her color genetics have come through twice when bred to white and she makes great babies!She is bred to Young Felipe again and expecting a cria in late April 2013. Description

GLR Bacchus is the true black son of 5 time Color Champion, 3/4 Accoyo Young Felipe, and his true black mother, Peruvian Desiree. His pedigree on his sire's side includes the likes of Rockstar, Torbio, Rene, Ramillo, Maria and 4P Peruvian Susurro, and on his mother's side, Magnifico, Renzo, and a true black mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Bacchus was barely six months old when he first stepped into the show ring at the 2009 AOBA Nationals where he took a 3rd in the true black juvenile class. He is proud and upright, with excellent lock, luster, and coverage, a beautiful head and beard and great bone. Non-McGyver. Micron for this true black at 6 years of age is 23.7. We selected Bacchus to add to our program as we believe with his pedigree and fiber traits he will be another excellent breeding outcross to produce beautiful dark color suris with Accoyo lines. Bacchus is co-owned with Southern Son Peruvian Suri Alpacas and Great Lakes Ranch. He is closed to outside breedings.
