Young Felipe, a full Peruvian 3/4 accoyo white male, is one of our favorites on the ranch. He is a Rockstar son with well-known champion producing sires, Ramillo and Torbio as his grandsires. Young Felipe won 5 Color Championships during his show career, more than any other Rockstar offspring : AAA Futurity 06, MAPACA 06, Buckeye 05 & 06, OABA Alpacafest 06 and 1st place at AOBA 05. We bred him to many of our colored females hoping that he would let the color come through from the dams with his cria expressing his excellent fiber characteristics and phenotype. We have been more than thrilled with the results. He has let color come through 100% of the time, and even produced a medium fawn when bred to a white female who had all white genetics.

Description
Desiree is a Great Lakes Ranch favorite. She was selected for her fantastic fiber characteristics and true black genetics. She has remarkable luster and lock that is so difficult to find in true black suris. Desiree was awarded Black Female Reserve Color Champion at the 2006 Kentucky Classic. She was bred the first time to our 5 time, White Color Champion, Young Felipe, who is a 3/4 Accoyo Rockstar son, and gave birth to a beautiful dark brown male in 2007. Her 2008 cria, also sired by Young Felipe, is a greasy, dense, true black male, GLR Bacchus, who was third at the 2009 AOBA Nationals as a seven month old and third again at the AAA Futurity as a yearling. Her color genetics have come through twice when bred to white and she makes great babies!She is bred to Young Felipe again and expecting a cria in late April 2013.
