Sometimes growth comes with unexpected decisions, and parting with Spirit is one of those. We never imagined a time when he may be available to another farm, but with his genetics overflowing in our herd and some new spotted bloodlines, we've made the difficult decision to allow him to move to another farm where he'll have more chances to continue his history of spot production. Contact us today form more information.   Meet Excelsior's Patriotic Spirit, an elite, appaloosa herdsire! This male has it all - confirmation, fiber, and lineage. Spirit is the product of appaloosas and harlequins from both sides of his family tree. His sire, Windspun WSA Patriotic Gentleman, is an appaloosa as well. He's a blue-ribbon winning male that sports a beautiful fleece and strong confirmation. Patriotic Gentleman's sire is the multi-champion Hobby Horse Farm Great Expecations making his grandsire the well-known SA Peruvian Black Epic. Spirit's dam, Excelsior's High Voltage Tazer, has an equally impressive background. She's the harlequin daughter of a very well-known appaloosa - NWA/Hearsum Paulo. Her dam is actually the full sister to our herdsire Mr. Butterscotch, a beautiful appaloosa harlequin named Candlelight's Cookies and Cream. Both Butterscotch and Cookie are My Peruvian Zephyus offspring. Spirit's show career started as a mature male; however, that didn't stop him from beating out the competition. Judges commented on his extreme density and the amount of fleece packed onto his frame. They also appreciated his fleece's brightness and the handle he had maintained for his age. His macho appearance and confidence in the show ring also stood out. Spirit has proven to pass on his phenomenal fleece qualities to his offspring. We are so excited to have this guy as a herdsire at Elderwood Farms! Notable Offspring: Elderwood's Maybe It Was Memphis - appaloosa, 9x Blue including Nationals Elderwood's Little Miss Can't Be Wrong - appaloosa harlequin, 1x Blue ELWD's When September Ends - lightly spotted appaloosa, 3x Blue Elderwood's Right On The Dot - traditional appaloosa out of 3x champion fawn female Elderwood's Without A Hitch - stunning traditional appaloosa Elderwood's Lady Liberty - harlequin appaloosa

Christina is an elite, multi-banner winning female hailing from a line of some of the most elite, influential imports. She's a robust, well-built girl expressing great fineness well into her teen years. She has a stunning presence about her supported by her perfect confirmation. Her sire, Snowmass White Gold, produced several champions during his breeding career. This is no surprise considering he's sired by one of the top imports - 4Peruvian Legacy 6016. In 2005, one-half interest in 4Peruvian Legacy 6016 was purchased by Virginia Alpaca Farm and Breeding Co. of Leesburg, VA for an outstanding $750,000, making Legacy's market price $1.5 million and crowning him with the title of most expensive alpaca herdsire in North America. Legacy was the 2002 Futurity Herdsire of the Year and the Reserve Light Herdsire of the Year in both 2005 and 2007 - truly a game changer with 419 registered offspring. Her dam, MSA Peruvian Vonna, also produced several elite offspring during her lifetime. Her sire, PPeruvian Victor G4563, was consider one of the most elite herdsires imported in 1994. We're excited to see her genetics continued in our herd. We look forward to Christina's continued production - hopeful to see her legacy continued!
