Look out for a donated breeding at the 2025 AOA National Show! First, you have to thank Red Granite for delivering such an outstanding male. Second, you have to thank Kitt Hollister for selling you her herd, including this outstanding male, and if I could reduce the lack of hesitation in making that purchase, I could in fact reduce it to this one male. From Kitt: "The best way to introduce this male is using the facts. First: YES, he is a true Harlequin. His great grandsire, Black Epic, is one of the most prolific Harlequin Appaloosa producers out there. His spots are subtle as his coloring is very light, a most stunning lavender rose grey. They are there, however, and there is no question that his extraordinary coloration is the result of the Harlequin Appaloosa gene." At 127.2 follicles/square mm density, Man of Mystery is the densest alpaca yet biopsied by Ian Watt in the USA, and I have not yet heard of a denser alpaca out there. With a primary SD of 2.5, secondary SD of 2.2, and fiber population differential of 3.5, he is also one of the most uniform. To quote Ian Watt directly, "overall this is the best alpaca I have tested in the US." His yearling histogram, at 16.0 AFD and 3.1 SD, is fine. His two year old histogram, at 17.3 AFD and still a 3.1 SD, is fine. His 2019 AFD, calculated off of his biopsy, is 16.9. So, he's fine, and he's staying fine, which is to be expected. Why? Well, his sire, CCNF Legionnaire, has a 6 y/o AFD of 17.3 with an SD of 3.5, and his dam's 5 y/o histogram was 20.5 with an SD of 3.5 -- impressive for any color, but stunning for a TRUE BLACK. So, here we go: unbelievably dense, uniform, and fine. As the pictures show, this fleece is, as expected, also quite beautiful -- bright bright bright, with a high-frequency crimp that stamps it as truly elite. He also has a decent staple. So far, he has thrown pattern 80+% of the time. His crias demonstrate his unique coloring and fantastic fiber statistics! He's produced blacks with 16 micron fleeces adn 2.9 SDs, and appaloosa/harlequins with 17.9 microns and 3.6 SDs. Be on the lookout. This guy is restricted but his kids are not... Much much more to come.

Billabong's Cookie

THIS GIRL! What an outstanding harlequinn and one of the last Billabong females born. She is gorgeous. She is sassy looking. And her temperament is easy, comfortable - a real joy. Cookie's markings are dramatic and eye catching. It was such an overwhelming surprise to come out to the barn and witness the birth of this girl - just look at her baby pictures. She is stout and hardy with strong bone and amazing presence. Perfect conformation Her fiber is strong in character, bundled, long staple and boy o boy does she have plenty of it. Her histogram results for her first clip were a very respectable 19.6 micron and 3.6% SD. Cookie has been to a couple of shows and the results were outstanding for showing in a grey class with the multiple color variations in her fiber. She got a respectable 5th at 2019 Nationals in a competitive class of grey yearlings. Very proud indeed. We have very high hopes for her. Cookie is bred to Xanadu's Chevalier for a summer 2021 cria. Yep. Xanadu's Chevalier. Imagine that. We are keeping her! Cookie gave birth to a boy who is the spitting image of Dad. Long long staple and bundles of bright drool worthy fiber.. We named him Striker and he is already sold! Cookie is bred to Man of Mystery for 2022 - Now this could be earth shattering. More to come. Cookie delivered a gorgeous adorable harley male that again - looks like his outstanding Dad, Man of Mystery. We are really looking forward to seeing how this little guy may sprout up! Cookie will be bred back to Man of Mystery in Spring 2023 for a repeat performance. Girl this time? <3 And we got it. The MOST adorable little spitfire. A spotted wonder. Awesome. And a potential for any farm interested in harlequin. Cookie will be bred back to Kubota (unless otherwise directed) If spots is your thing - she delivers. The next generation. <3

Description

These guys are not a dime a dozen and we don't release them easily!!! Incredulous is a very well expressed harlequin male with Red Granites Man of Mystery as the sire. His dam, Cookie is no slouch, as she was the first Harlequin born at the farm and what a stir she caused. She is a direct Billabong daughter. Incredulous' first year histogram reveals his sire's fineness and consistency sporting an AFD of 16.37, SD of 3.78, and CV 23.0. His second year histogram improved uniformity traits with an AFD of 17.3 and SD of 3.1, and CV of 18.3. Incredulous' maternal-brother, HowlingHills Conspicuous, aka "Spike", just took home the Reserve Color Champion at the 2024 Futurity as well as Champion at the 2024 GWAS show. Just sayin'. Is he homozygous? Time will tell. Two pretty epic harlequin parents. This is a great opportunity if you are looking to expand your harlequin base. Breed UP! Histo results Year 1 16.37/3.78/23.09/100 Year 2 17.34/3.17/18.3/100 Note: the improvement in uniformity !!!!!!!
