In a new partnership with Tom Blanford of Clayfarm Alpacas, I am pleased to announce the acquisition of Snowmass Arch Angel XX. Lynn Edens has been watching this male develop since she acquired Snowmass Alpacas. He exhibits strong genetics for staple length as well as consistency. His fleece is bright and exhibits micro-bundling as well as a high frequency, low amplitude crimp structure. Upon evaluation prior to shearing, his two daughters were tagged as "retain for foundation" for the Snowmass herd. We have many of his crias on the farm for evaluation and some for sale. If your herd need staple length and fineness, this is the guy! Arch Angel has a very interesting fleece profile as demonstrated through his EPDs and histograms. He has all eight EPD catagories under 7%. The most interesting part is that his fleece weight and micron both are under 5% while his staple length EPD is under 7% which is an exceedingly rare combination. Viper started his breeding career at NorthCoast in the fall of 2017. He is truly a product of his genetics. We bred our top producing female, NorthCoast Mercury's Meribella to Ventura based on their outstanding fleece characteristics. Meribella had a show stopping fleece as a young female out of RAL Titan's Mercury Rising and NorthCoast Pacifico's Isabella... it was a Suri type fleece with long, thick, bright locks which laid flat like a Suri a style known as a "silky". Her fleece was so astounding that we bought her sire right after she was born. Viper's sire, Ventura, was given the highest recommendation by his owner, Larry Johnson, as his best fleece producing male and he certainly proved correct with this young male. Viper is a smaller male with excellent conformation and curb appeal. A terrific looking male with the entire package when evaluating his fleece. Unlike many alpacas at the high end, he has very good staple length along with high frequency crimp with micro bundling, brightness, excellent density and uniformity across the blanket and into the extremities. Our greatest challenge with him in his younger days was his fleece picking up junk and getting trashed. We were disappointed when his fleece was too matted and debris-filled to show for his juvenile and yearling show seasons. His fleece at over 2.5 years has all the characteristics we are breeding for. He has a small black spot on the inside of his left front leg so believe he may carry black genetics. This has proven out as Viper produced a true black cria out of a white dam, NorthCoast Thunderstruck. We are offering limited outside breedings to Viper. I strongly recommend this male and believe he can improve on most any colored or even white alpaca.

bred dam with female cria

Description

Rockette is a farm favorite. She is a large, elegant and conformationally correct female with a wonderful white fleece and a fawn spot on her left shoulder. She is 3/4 Accoyo bloodlines and an Accoyo Michelangelo granddaughter. Her dam, Concordia, was a beautiful light fawn foundation female for our breeding program but suffered a full prolapse during Rockette's birth and did not survive so she is an orphan. On 6/23/24, Rockette birthed a white female, nearly full Accoyo cria, named Julietta, out of NorthCoast Metallica's Romeo who is also an orphan as his dam passed away several months after his birth. Romeo is 7/8 Accoyo bloodlines and a show champion. His first crias are just hitting the ground and they are fabulous! Romeo is a show champion and heavy fleece producer who carries the persistent fineness found in his dam, Juliette. Romeo's sire, Metallica was described as the best male ever produced by the Indiana farm where he was born. A mid-sized male with bright, high character fleece. We have rebred Rockette to NorthCoast Ventura's Viper (dark fawn with a black spot) for a colored 2025 cria. Viper's last cria was an appaloosa!
