Shogun’s Sunset is a cross between Accoyo America and Snowmass lines. On the top he has Accoyo America Shogun, a Legacy son, as a grandsire. Shogun was the sire of National Champion Kingfish and when I looked at Shogun’s offspring I noted that we have retained many of the females in our breeding program here at Little CreekFarm Alpacas in North Salem. We go to this line at Accoyo America for staple length, fleece weight/density without sacrificing style or fineness. I imagine that is why Julie Skinner purchased Sunset’s sire, Shogun’s Samurai, to not only improve staple length in the Snowmass herd but to introduce genetic diversity with a complementary fleece style while doing so. On the bottom of Shogun’s Sunset’s pedigree is Legendary Sunshine, a fawn Elite Legend daughter. Legendary Sunshine gets high marks for fineness and uniformity, and my shearing notes say that she maintained a grade 1 fleece as a six year old in 2021. Shogun’s Sunset comments from shearing were for fleece “excellent overall-sale or use”. As you can imagine being pegged as an animal to “use” in the Snowmass breeding program is a designation that most males here won’t ever reach. His conformation notes say that his is square and correct. Amelia has a very fine fleece and has been an excellent producer. Her first cria, we sold at the Amber Autumn Auction in 2022. Her second cria a juvie male, will be joining our show string next show season. ALERT: Amelia had a female cria on June 2, 2022. Her 2023 cria was a male, delivered on May 27. Shogun Miyamoto is a high quality male with beautiful fleece defined by fineness, density, crimp and uniformity. This boy will definitely be on our 2023 - 2024 show string.
