2022 UPDATE: HELIX PRODUCES CHAMPION BLACK PROGENY!!!
Helix is a handsome DF out of our best TB dam, Tamara, and Snowmass Truly XXXtreme. Helix did very well in his first year of showing in fawn, much to our surprise considering his black pedigree. This fawn boy covers black so he'll definitely be an asset to our program!
His fleece is just amazing as it displays beautiful fineness, uniformity and brightness with a high frequency crimp on an amazingly long staple. This well above average staple length was inherited from his TB dam who ranks Top 5% for MSL at age 8 and continuously passes on this trait to offspring. Helix is no exception as he ranks in the 1.51% for MSL and Top 25% for FW in 2022. He clearly has the staple length but also above average density on top of all the other great fleece qualities. Cheryl Gehly comments on his fleece show card in 2018 (cria fleece): "Stunning fineness of secondaries in this dense, bright fleece!!".
Helix has good bone structure, a correct bite and he also has great temperament and is easy to handle.
He will be added to our herdsire lineup in 2020 as this boy deserves some consideration and a chance to breed!
UPDATE: Helix had his first 2 crias in the summer of 2021, both black males! One of his black son won Colour Champion (as a juvie!) at the Alpaga Québec 2022 Halter Show. His other son (who was sold with dam in Ontario) has won 1st place in both fleece and composite halter and even went on to win Reserve Champion black male at the 2022 Navan Fair Show! We are thrilled with these results and what a way to start his breeding career...2 crias, 2 champions!!! Maybe we should consider putting Helix on more females ;)
