Andean Shadow has it all! She is ultra-uniform for a black with SD 3.6 and CV 16.8% with a crimp that compares to whites. Her fleece feels crazy dense with great fineness for her colour! She has a beautiful conformation and head style, a boxy and solid frame with good size. Her uniformity was acclaimed by senior judge Cheryl Gehly, who gave her the score of 78/100, that’s 8 points above her closest competitor! She received 8.5/10 for crimp, 9.5/10 for brightness and 4.5/5 for handle. Arturo Pena gave her the score of 79/100, with 18/20 for fineness, 9/10 for handle and 8.5/10 for crimp style. Comments: "Nice to see positive fleece characteristics expressed at once! Very fine, bright and soft" "Well done! Great staple length, great hand! A joy to judge!" If there were enough black for a Colour Championship at the 2022 Alpaga Québec Halter Show, judge Wade Gease would have awarded it to Shadow. He tried convincing the committee, but rules are rules! She is aging wonderfully! Her 3rd fleece was awarded Reserve Champion, only lost due to fleece weight to the Champion (still scored 9/15). Cheryl Gehly commented on her incredible uniformity of microns within her blanket and between primaries and secondaries, especially for a black. She has produced a dark brown male with black points in 2023. He is off to an incredible start and should develop into a future herdsire if he matures as expected!
