Lakota is out of TWO appaloosa parents. Is he homozygous? We think so. His first kids hit the ground in 2020 and all were spotted. We bred a number of females to him for the 2021 season along with some outside breedings and he delivered every single darn time. We love Lakota for his sturdy frame, very solid fleece character (fineness, density and character) and sweet temperament. He has a nice array of spots to share and so far he has shared them well. Did I mention his fleece quality? Its noteworthy. And he passes it along. We have some amazing kids to preview and photos will be posted shortly. We are offering a limited number of breedings through 2024( 5 to be exact). So if you want to jump on a relatively guaranteed outcome with an amazing guy - please contact us! 9 year histo update: 23.5/4.7 :)

WOW… just WOW! We were over the moon when given the opportunity to add this handsomely spotted harlequin boy, Howling Hill’s Conspicuous, aka Spike, to our herd sire line up. No doubt, Spike is striking in color, but take a look at his fleece traits and genetic potential for reproducing, because truly, that is what a breeding pairing is all about! Spike’s Harlequin Appaloosa gene can be traced back to Legend Maker and Black Epic, two of the most prolific Harlequin Appaloosa producers in the US. His sire is none other than Red Granite’s Man of Mystery (formerly known as Pinktus), who now resides at Willow Wind Alpaca Farm in Westcliffe, CO. Man of Mystery is a beautiful representation of a harlequin, and at 127.2 follicles/ square mm in density, he is the densest alpaca biopsied by Ian Watt in the US…and to quote Ian Watt, “Overall, this is the best alpaca I have tested in the US.” To add more to the table, Spike’s dam, ELK Matrix Haley is a Snowmass Matrix daughter, adding more powerhouse genetics and uniformity. Here’s what the judges have had to say about Spike: - Very strong and well balanced - Impressive from his head style throughout his body balance - Incredible amount of fiber across his frame - Fleece opens up cleanly - Good solidity in his fleece - Striking color - Maintaining good softness throughout - Spectacular coloring - I actually heard myself say WOW when the alpaca came in Spike truly has ALL you are looking for in a harlequin appaloosa program- Color and conformation without sacrificing fleece traits!

Description

Zora is cute as a button. She has fluffy teddy bear ears and big, brown, beautiful eyes! She has great conformation and a very nice staple length to her fleece. Her sire, WWLH Lakota is a sweet tempered appaloosa with a nice array of spots and a sturdy frame. He is out of two appaloosa parents and has noteworthy fleece characteristics, displaying fineness, density and character. Zora’s dam, Holly Rose, is an eye-catching, dark silver gray harlequin with tuxedo markings. Holly’s sire, Vintage Cashmere’s U-Taup-ia, is one of the most potent males in producing spots! Given these genetics, Zora is destined to produce beautifully spotted kids! We plan on breeding Zora to Howling Hills Conspicuous, aka Spike, for her maiden breeding, next Spring/Summer (2024). Stay tuned…
