El R Rembrandt's Adelante

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)White
AOA# 32282887DOB: 5/11/201113 yrs
We looked at Adelante a little while back and were impressed with his density and beautiful, bright, fleece. At the time we didn't have a lot of light-colored females to utilize him but recently we decided to head in that direction. His pedigree shows some classics; El Nino, Pperuvian Legacy & Caligula. His dam won a championship in fawn at the California Classic. His sire is top 5% EPDs most every category. Read about his sire, Rembrandt by El Nino, who was awarded championships three times along with a reserve championship in his show career. His skin biopsy was referred to as a high density animal, to quote "This view is supported by the high level of secondary follicle development that has occurred - a secondary follicle to primary follicle ratio of 13.5 to 1 is exceptional for an alpaca." write up from Jim Watts, MV. Sc, Ph.D. Considering that Rembrandt's owners are both well-respected alpaca judges, we feel we may have something special here. His histogram at almost one year was 16.8 and 3.7 SD and following at almost 3 years old was 18.4 and 5.1 SD. Adelante sheared over 9 pounds at 9 years old. His staple length is still over 3" with over an inch of clean. We feel this is an indicator of his fleece density considering our herd tends to get dusty & dirty here in the rain-less state of sunny California that equates to limited grass on pastures. His first cria landed and we can't wait to see how he develops. Adelante is such a macho guy. We wish we had more nice girls to breed him to!

B Canyon Alpacas La Luna De Fresa

HuacayaBred (Female)Medium Silver Grey, Dark Silver Grey
AOA# 35554158DOB: 6/10/20177 yrs
This girl may be one of my favorite looking alpacas yet. Say what you want about breeding for color uniformity until you see all the colors on this one... Just gorgeous markings and coloring different greys with big maroon spots. She was aptly named, La Luna De Fresa (strawberry moon) since we already have a Luna we have re-named her similar sounding to Leilani, heavenly lei... Her sire was silver grey but her dam was more that vicunua type looking dark fawn with white underbelly yet parts of her were so dark they are that maroon/bay black color. We posted a picture of her grand-dam so you get the idea. Leilani had her first baby on 4th of July, she fairly effortless birthed a baby girl. While it was a bit risky to breed her with El R Adelante with his light color, since he had a baby with brown spots born to a white dam, we felt he likely carries color and were just grateful she finally conceived. Adelante has phenomenal fleece. We are quite happy with their girl. She grew her baby Liberty so fast! We bred Leilani to Granite Bay's Blue Silver in September and had confirmed a pregnancy at 30 days but unfortunately it looks like it didn't hold. We will be reducing her price to reflect that. Let us know if you would like more information.

Description

This girl was born before right before our eyes on the 4th of July. She hasn't missed a beat from nursing to running and playing. She is from a strikingly colored grey dam and one of the most amazing huacaya males we have owned, Rembrandt's Adelante. She is a sturdy girl we expect her to be taller than her mom soon. Excited to see how her fleece re-grows.
