Congratulation to Chris and Amber Gurko of Fulcrum Farm on their purchase of Apple Dumpling! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *Enchanted Hill Apple Dumpling is the stunning result of crossing harlequin male-- Vintage Cashmere U-Taupe-ia with appaloosa female Enchanted Apple. Apple Dumpling is a proven dam, great mother and matriarch of her girls. She has a well-spotted, extremely dense fleece and the cutest butterfly ears. Her sire, "Taupie" is a prepotent homozygous harlequin stud that has over 50 offspring on the ground. Over 70 percent are either appaloosa or harlequin grey. He has champion offspring as well as champion grand-offspring. Apple Dumpling is the first born offspring of Enchanted Hill Apple, owned by Ed and Joan Kinser at the time. They said... of all the alpacas that have been in our herd, Apple is the friendliest, walking right up to strangers and inviting them to do some patting. Apple's dam, Enchanted Hill Appalucy is almost as calm, and is the most sought after of the appaloosas in our herd. All three of these girls, grandma to grand daughter, are just striking. Apple Dumpling will be bred shortly after shearing to a rare gem stud. Stay tuned for more details regarding Apple Dumpling in 2023! Apple Dumpling is brokered by Rare Gem Alpacas.

It is with great excitement that we announce the addition of this handsome young appaloosa male to the Rare Gem herd. We have followed MIrakel's dam for years as she is the closest appaloosa descendant to LF Del a Burl, the handsome appaloosa male that was exported to Germany. With his departure, these genetics were limited to just two females in the United States-- one of which is MaRs Dixie-- MIrakel's dam. Dixie is the only appaloosa descendant of daughter from LF del A Burl. In Germany, Burl went on to produce 50+ cria, the majority of which are appaloosa and/or patterned. Mirakel's grand-dam, Sugar Shoo, was a full Peruvian and a granddaughter of Auzengate, a Peruvian male, noted for throwing appaloosa cria. Mirakel's maternal side carries the Victor line and is stacked with champions, including Eastwind's Snowstorm. Dixie's owners had the foresight to breed her to an elite-fleeced male-- Aspen Alpacas Highpoint out of the Silver Rose Overture / Augusto's Cochiti line. Highpoint has stamped this offspring, Mirakel, with his beautiful phenotype including a lovely head, full coverage from nose to toes, perfect portions and an evolved, fine colorFULL appaloosa fleece! His previous owners have said "Here's betting that he gives his maternal brother, Wahoo from MaRS, a run for his money!" Those are some big "hooves" to fill, but time will tell. We invite appaloosa and harlequin breeders to keep an eye on this young male, Mirakel. We have great things planned for him! Special thanks to Alpacas from MaRS and Las Flores del Altiplano Alpacas for producing this fine male and letting him join the Rare Gem herd. With gratitude... UPDATE: Mirakel's show career is off to a great start. His most recent award is from the 2023 PNAA IFA. He took first in his class and "Most Uniform in Grade" Award - Grade 0.

Description

Dam with a Heart of Gold and a Pedigree to Match Iris is a sweet and solidly built female out of the stunning appaloosa, Enchanted Hill Apple Dumpling. While her pedigree is packed with appaloosa genetics, Iris is white with just one small fawn spot—a subtle nod to her colorful lineage. Her color genotype is Ee Aa1, confirming her potential to pass on an exciting variety of colors and patterns. Her fleece boasts a long staple length and a high-frequency crimp style, making it both visually striking and a dream to work with. Beyond her physical qualities, Iris stands out as one of the most dedicated dams we’ve ever seen. She’s exceptionally maternal and attentive, with abundant milk supply. Iris birthed her first cria unassisted at 341 days, delivering a 16.4 lb dark fawn female sired by our true black stud, Rare Gem Sea Señor (EE a1a2), of non-Appaloosa heritage. For her 2024 breeding, Iris has been bred to Rare Gem Mirakel, an extraordinary appaloosa male. We eagerly await their cria, expected in November 2025, which promises to bring together two exceptional genetic lines. What to Expect from Iris x Mirakel This pairing brings together the best of Rare Gem’s appaloosa program. Iris’ maternal instincts, excellent conformation, and genetic diversity, combined with Mirakel’s elite appaloosa pedigree and award-winning fleece, set the stage for a truly remarkable cria. With Mirakel’s well-pattern, elite-fleece and Iris’ proven history of producing solid, strong offspring, we are anticipating a cria that showcases both color and exceptional quality.
