We have a habit – good or bad, we will let the historic record make that call in the end – of hoarding members of certain lines in order to build up a genetic base and hedge our bets going forward. In the case of Moonraker, we also have three of his full sisters, Moonbeam, Luna Majesty, and Clair de Lune in our production herd as well as his dam, CCNF Moonlight (she a highly coveted member of the PPP Jesusa line as a daughter of Gold Sovereign). How powerful is that genetic line? The Elixir crias born to Moonbeam and Luna (genetically full siblings) were the female and male Judges' Choice winners at the 2018 Futurity. They also went on to win their respective Championships at the AOA National Fleece Show, where Valyria (the white female) bested her brother/cousin, Sovereign-Legacy (the fawn male) for the one and only Huacaya JC award. And all of that without a Lutz on the end of a lead line, so maybe (just maybe!) the fleeces have something going for them after all? All of which goes to show why Moonraker is definitely going to be sticking around in some capacity at least. Though slightly more stocky than his older sister, Moonraker takes after Luna the most in terms of appearance and style, which is not a bad thing by any measure. Dense, fine, bright…you get the picture. At the risk of stating the obvious, if he didn’t bring something special to the table, we wouldn't be using him here in our program or offering him for outside stud service. Update: Moonraker's first cria, CCNF Maid Marian was the Champion Fawn Female Huacaya at the 2020 AOA National Fleece Show!

CCNF Dorianna

HuacayaOpen (Female)Medium Fawn
AOA# 32677362DOB: 12/17/201212 yrs
As written by CCNF: "Meet the goose that lays the golden eggs. Dorianna comes from the same closely held maternal line that produced CCNF Legionnaire, our Champion fawn Herdsire that headlined the 2014 Breeders Edge sale in Virginia and went on to win (amongst others) Championships at both the 2015 Great Western Alpaca Show (where he was also the JC male) and the 2015 Futurity for his new owners! Dorianna's dam, Lilah, our Champion and Judges' Choice female, is the second daughter ever born to an all-world foundation female, CCNF Magdalena, and is paternally the daughter of Snowmass Royal Challenger. Dorianna's younger maternal sister, CCNF Delilah, has been tearing it up on the show circuit for us since April of 2016 and was again a key player this year, including winning the Reserve Light Female Championship at the 2017 AOA National Fleece Show. Dorianna's sire is, of course, Beethoven's Dorian, who has won multiple Championships and Judges' Choice awards in his own right and needs no introduction. The short version is that this young Female's genetics are stacked! Daughter CCNF Lyanna has won 6 Halter Championships and one Reserve Championship in Fleece! Daughter CCNF Heidrun won 7 1st place ribbons in halter classes. Son Colonial Summer Dreamer won 5th and 4th in halter classes. Son, Arcani took a 2nd at the 2022 Futurity, Doriann delivered a female sired by CCNF Moonraker (sire of Colonial Dimitri) on July 2, 2024

Description

Dimitri is co-owned with Cas-Cad-Nac Farm LLC (Ian and Jennifer Lutz). "We are happy to announce that we recently acquired half interest in the young Herdsire prospect, Colonial Dimitri, from the good folks in the Rodman family and Colonial Alpacas in Williamstown, MA. Let us be clear: Dimitri is, as they say in the world of sports, “one for the future,” rather than a young male that’s going to make any sort of immediate impact. We were frankly really impressed by him even when he was nothing but a 2 month-old ankle-biter at his dam’s side. Dimitri is also a relatively known entity, as the product of his dam, CCNF Dorianna — whom the Rodmans purchased from us several years back — and his sire, CCNF Moonraker, who is both a working Herdsire here at CCNF and happens to be the lesser known member of his full sibling-foursome (his sisters Moonbeam, Luna Majesty, and Clair de Lune fill out the rest of that team). The bottom line is that as more of a “pure” Matrix Majesty descendant by virtue of his sire, and without any genetics from that scallywag, CCNF Elixir, floating around in there, he has more future utility within our program than one might assume at a glance, all while also for the most part coming from genetics that we both know how to use and trust. Many thanks to Colonial Alpacas for sharing their special young boy with us!" Judge's comments for Dimitri: Fineness, Density, and Consistency of uniformity in microns on a nicely built frame.
