HP Hurricane's Super Storm

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Brown

It is a rare thing indeed for me to buy a stud male for my breeding program. My head has to be truly turned by any such male and his pedigree, conformation, fleece has to be right on target with my breeding goals. In short, such a male must be capable of doing it all, and in every color. Well, HP Hurricane's Super Storm is precisely the male that can do it all. Super Storm was the 2012 Canadian Futurity color champion and, upon moving to the US, he took another color championship at the Illinois Alpaca Show. His sire and dam and as far back as I can check top and bottom, are all Futurity champions. His line marries the Hurricane line with the Super Sam line. And he's no fluke, as his full sister (who is white) was a Supreme Champion at the Canadian Futurity. Now, his offspring have hit the show-ring for a number of years and are taking it, well, by storm! There is a Judge's Choice female who took that honor at GWAS, blue ribbon winners at AAA Futurity and other major midwest shows. These include whites and colors. If you want a champion that is proven to produce champions doing a little work for your breeding program, you need look no further than Storm. Many people know I run a predominantly elite light program here and, for me, I won't be bothered if he sires whites at all, and I won't mind a bit if he amps up our colored lines either! His previous stud fee was $3500 but we are sweetening this deal and making him available for five breedings for $5000. Get together with friends and buy a package of breedings to Storm. He will be siring some very amazing animals and my gut tells me that we will be making heads spin at the east coast shows when my Dually daughters' Storm kids start to make the show circuit.

2022 - at the age of 10, this male still has very respectable EPDs in 7 categories and he has transitioned to a herd that has moved from NH to OK. Dec 2018 - An amazing year for this male - stunning EPDs - still in the top 5%! A fantastic shearing weight (again!) AND he is the sire of surviving twins. Yep - he remains on our herdsire row for sure. April 2016 - Another awesome shearing - 5.6# blanket and 2.4# neck for this guy. Same consistent dense blanket on the same solid frame. He just gets better with age. Oh yes...he will be part of our foundation males! Aug 2015 - still undecided? How about 17 micron as a three year old? Staying fine, with consistent fiber stats as this male matures is what we continue to build the foundation program upon. Commander is yet another example of why judges liked this male. And, although we admit we allowed him to graze on lush pastures all year...he still maintained awesome fiber, despite high protein pastures. Sigh...what an awesome genetic package! Nov 2014 - We adore it when the judges recognize the density and fiber traits on this male. After all, that is exactly what he was bred for. One of the comments the judge spoke about what the "pounds and pounds of fiber this male has on his frame" - and it is true! Commander packs more fiber per square centimeter onto his frame than most of his competitors. That is what led him to the top of his class and his latest blue ribbon. This is a male for females who need a shot of density, consistent architecture, correct conformation, and attitude. He has it all. He isn't tall and lanky - he is stocky, power packed, and the complete package. Full of confidence and ready to show the next generation how enhance and compliments their traits. He is a job well done, I would say! Oct 2014 - Indeed, this male is a tank. Wide chested (great for lung capacity for breeding!), correct frame, perfect bite, perfect head (we LOVE his head), consistent fiber architecture throughout blanket…downfall? Well…we would have to say that it is a little higher micron than some of the competitors due to being on lush pasture this spring and summer. Yes, we know…we don't starve the animals and we have been blessed with abundant rains. Is it a downfall? Hmmm…we don't think so. Genetically, when we look at Commander and his full sibling, Delilah, the are identical and have the same exact fiber. This is a stud. He is a spitting image of his sire, Snowmass Star Quest - a National Color Champion four years in a row. Nope…no mistake. And wait until you see his baby sister, Microburst….

Description

While her farm name is Lena, Stormy Weather hit the ground running and she is a credit to both her gorgeous dam and sire. We own her sire, who was the 2012 Canadian Futurity Brown CC and came to the States and took a bunch of banners here. He's a High Plains Hurricane son out of a Super Sam dam. His offspring have bannered across the nation, and there is a Judge's Choice female who took those honors at GWAS. It took very little coaxing for me to decide that, if I were to acquire an outcross male, this was the one I would want. Now, her dam is no slouch and is one of our keeper Dually daughters. Dually was the 2009 Futurity White CC and went on the next week to take the CC and Judge's Choice at MAPACA. So, sire is a Canadian Futurity CC and grandsire is an American Futurity CC. How cool is that? Lena is a beautiful, well grown out female. She possesses the head that both her sires can confer. Do we have to trim her topknot on occasion? Yes, we do. We opted to breed Lena to Commander, who is an amazing son of Snowmass Star Quest. We also love the fact that one of our old favorite stud males we owned sired his dam. His pedigree is utter perfection, really, and he has that zipper crimp that will match up beautifully with Stormy Weather! Lena/Stormy Weather is co-owned with our dear friends, Leon and Marie Karvelis.
