We purchased MFI's & KVR's Mint Mo Money -- together with our friends Wayne and Susan Robinson of Emelise Alpacas -- at the 2014 Breeders Choice sale at Magical Farms. Though in all honesty we hadn't gone to that final ever Breeders Choice thinking that we would be bidding on a male alpaca, Mo's fleece was so compelling to us that we figured we'd take a chance. There is always some risk in buying an alpaca that is not yet mature. We liken it to sports teams drafting 18 year old kids: while it is possible to project their possible upside based upon some markers that we've learned to recognize, there is *never* a guarantee that the animal in question will ultimately fulfill its potential. If it was too easy, it really wouldn't be any fun, right? Now, having gone through the 2015 spring show season though, it's safe to say that we all (CCNF and Emelise) feel a bit like the cats that ate the canary. Though perhaps a touch high in his hind end at the time he first arrived here, Mo came home to CCNF last fall and after six months or so of eating good Vermont hay and marching up and down the mountainside here on Mt. Ascutney, he really filled out into a stunning young male. Guess what? The fleece held up too. The grandson of the legendary Majestic Peruvian Jeremiah, we will be able to cross Mo in with the vast majority of our white/light herd (our Precocious daughters being an obvious exception). Amongst other things, his genetics will represent the first major infusion of El Niño (Caligula and Sunipani) and Titan blood into our breeding program, something which we are pretty excited about! Though Mo was a bit of a, ahem, late bloomer with his breeding technique, several members of of his first generation of crias are now slated to play very important roles in our breeding program (not the least of which is his son CCNF Snow King, a full-fledged Herdsire) going forward.

Andean Dawn's Meadow is a spectacular female. She features consistent tiny, well defined zipper crimp. Her color is bright and she carries very nice density. Meadow boasts impeccable genetics from her sire CCNF Pride and her dam Jasmine Honey of BGF. These include CCNF Archangel, Mr. President, Don Julio, Snowmass Olympic Belle, Snowmass King Leonidus, and the list goes on. We looked for a special male to breed Meadow with and landed on MFI & KVR's Mint Mo-Mo-Money who was happily nearby at Cas-Cad-Nac-Farm. We were so thrilled with, Lady, we are doing a Meadow/Mo rebreeding for a 2024 full brother or sister to Lady! We are also pleased to comment on Meadow's OFDA 2000 stats at 8 years old: Micron 21.5, SD 4.4, CVD 20.3! Update: Meadow's first cria, Andean Dawn's Lady was born August 27, 2018! Meadow is an attentive mom with ample milk. Double update: Meadow is grandmother! On August 18, 2022 Meadow's daughter, Lady, gave birth to her first cria Snow Princess whose sire is Andean Dawn's Dancer!

If breeders do their job right, eventually there is always a next-generation advancement that will bring something new to the table. CCNF Bataclan represents the amalgam of some of the most exciting and prepotent lines that we have ever worked with here, going back over 18 years in some cases. Bataclan's sire, 2017 Futurity Herdsire of the Year CCNF Elixir, really needs very little introduction at this point. Though Elixir has given us several excellent sons, when Bataclan first started working, he represented Elixir's first white son that had the mojo to regularly steal females off of his sire's breeding list. Consider what Elixir has meant to us over the past few years and then let the statement above sink in. Yes, Bataclan is that special. Maternally, Bataclan combines the genetics of Snowmass Sub-Zero (a Champion 6P Monarch son) and our Futurity Champion, MFI Peruvian Precocious, who is of course himself a son of the mighty Jeremiah. Just on paper alone, the pedigree is fairly drool-inducing but the specimen in person also happens to walk the walk as well. With a more compact size and build, that most closely resembles that of his Champion dam, CCNF Daliance (Snowmass Sub-Zero x CCNF Flirtatious), and a fleece that is both dense, bright, and very well organized, Bataclan is absolutely poised to be the next big thing here at his birth farm. Update - Spring of 2022: After 2+ pandemic-laden years where his offspring primarily competed only via the AOA National Fleece Show (albeit winning several banners, including the Female Judges' Choice in 2020 for his daughter, CCNF Electra) the Bataclan kids stormed into their first-ever Futurity winning the Light Get of Sire Class, 6 individual blue ribbons, 1 Reserve Championship (White Huacaya Male), 2 Championships (Light Huacaya Male & White Huacaya Female), and the Judges' Choice Female Huacaya! All of which led Bataclan to ultimately lay claim to the prestigious 2022 Light Herdsire of the Year, an honor his sire, Elixir, had previously claimed on three prior occasions.
